Mexican production up 5.7%, exports down 0.8% in August

The Asociacion Mexicana de la Industria Automotriz (AMIA) released August 2017 detailed figures on September 7.
Production of 351,855 light vehicles in August was up 5.7% from the 332,769 units produced in the same month last year.
Productions by manufacture are as follows: Nissan was flat with 81,681 units, GM was down 8.0% to 62,899 units, FCA was up 65.1% to 61,344 units, VW was up 3.5% to 46,970 units, and Ford was down 3.8% to 31,772 units.

Exports in August of 260,607 light vehicles showed a decrease of 0.8% compared to the number of vehicles exported last August.
Exports by manufactures are as follows: GM was up 17.7% to 59,946 units, FCA was up 36.9% to 57,170 units, Nissan was down 26.3% to 31,909 units, VW was down 18.9% to 29,339 units, and Ford was down 17.6% to 26,151 units.
The destination of first eight month export volumes indicates that the majority of exports, 76.1%, went to the U.S. The North America region accounted for 84.9% of the total exports.
