On April 12, VW announced the start of production of the eighth generation of the Golf at its Wolfsburg plant.

One of the main changes of this generation of Golf is the introduction of the new plug-in hybrid options with an electric range exceeding 100 km and a combined range of about 1,000 km. These additions complement existing TSI, TDI, and eTSI mild hybrid drives, with the plug-in hybrids also featuring a DC quick-charging function.

The Golf is the most produced model at the plant, with over 20 million units. The Beetle is the second model with almost 12 million units and Tiguan on third place, with just under 3.5 million units produced.

On April 9 it was announced that VW will have a technical stoppage for a month on the Tiguan line due to an adjustment in production lines.

According to the Independent Union of VW Workers of Mexico, the stoppage will begin on April 15 and activities will resume on May 13, reducing 600 employees' salaries by 43%.

This technical stoppage was planned to begin on March 19, however, SITIAVW managed to delay it for a month by negotiating the mobilization of workers to the Jetta line, reducing the financial impact on employees.
