About This Interview

ETAS GmbH (ETAS) and Elektrobit Automotive GmbH (Elektrobit) announced on May 27 an integrated software foundation developed through collaboration for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and demonstrated the solution at the Automotive Engineering Exposition 2026 YOKOHAMA (May 27-29).

The new ADAS software foundation combines EB corbos Linux for Safety Applications, which constitutes Elektrobit's scalable and efficient Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) platform, with the ADAS profile of ETAS's Vehicle Software Platform Suite. By providing the operating system and middleware components in a pre-integrated form, the solution is designed to simplify system integration. This approach contributes to reducing integration risks while providing an open alternative to closed-source operating systems for ADAS platform foundations.

This collaboration demonstrates the two companies' shared commitment to providing open, scalable, and safety-focused automotive software platforms. During the Automotive Engineering Exposition, MarkLines interviewed Bungo Mizumoto, President and Representative Director of ETAS K.K., and Akihiko Kawai, Managing Director of Elektrobit Japan K.K., the Japanese subsidiaries of the two companies, regarding the objectives of the collaboration, future directions toward realizing a next-generation mobility society including SDVs, and business strategies.
