Financial Overview

-In recent years, 15% of the Company's total sales revenue has been generated from exports.

Bimetal Bearings Ltd.

-Revenue for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2019, increased by 13.3% over the previous year to INR 2064.1 million against INR 1821.3 million. The intermediate and end products sale was good for the current year and it has been able to perform as per the projections in this market.



IP Rings Ltd.

-Sales for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2019 increased by 2.6% to INR 2132.8 million against INR 2077.6 million

Technical Alliances

-The Group has technical alliances with the following companies:

Bimetal Bearings Ltd.
-Bimetal Bearings shares an intellectual property and technology transfer agreement with Daido Metal Co., Ltd., Japan for the production of a range of high performance and Euro III compliant lead-free materials, manufacturing process up-gradation and introduction of contemporary overplay plating process.

IP Rings Ltd.

-IP Rings Ltd. has a technical tie-up with Austria-based Miba for carbon friction lining of synchrocones and other synchronizer components.

-IP Rings Ltd. has been provided technical assistance for PVD rings from the JV partner Nippon Piston Ring Company.
 

R&D Activities (FY ended Mar. 31, 2018)

IP Rings Ltd.
-In the fiscal year ended March 31, 2019, IP Rings Ltd. invested a total of INR 4.3 million in research and development, which was approximately 0.20% of its total sales.

-The following are specific R&D activities that IP Rings focused on in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2019 .

  • Development of BSVI norms Piston Rings for Engines operating with Diesel, Petrol, Alcohol and CNG fuels in passenger car and truck application
  • Development of 2 piece oil rings with concavity and stepland for better oil scrapping and friction reduction respectively.
  • Submitted proposals of 3 piece Oil Ring GN PVD Side Rails with high crowning profile than conventional to achieve oil consumption with lower Friction Powerloss.
  • Development of in-house automated conversion coating
  • Development of intricate geometrical parts like Gear shift sleeve, Sliding clutch and Flange
  • Development of 3D Cam for gear shift application
  • Automation of 200 MT Orbital Cold forming Presses
  • Implementation of auto gauging system in the gantry line has improved the manufacturing process by increasing the efficiency, accuracy & reliability of the product.
  • Development of new material.

 -The following are specific R&D activities that IP Rings plans to focus on in the future: 

  • Development of taper, stepland and concavity 2 piece oil ring for Diesel Engines.
  • Development of 2piece oil ring for Gasoline engine.
  • Development of low friction hydrogen free DLC coating for all fuel application.
  • Development of alloyed PVD coating for ethanol fuel application.
  • Improvement of Part Cleanliness for BSVI norms and implement appropriate measurement techniques.
  • Creating low cost automation model Cell for 2 Wheel and Ring Gear.
  • Development of Ring Rolled blanks for Pole Wheel and Ring Gear.
  • Development of front Wheel hub for car segment.

-In the fiscal year ended March 31, 2019, Bimetal Bearings had a total research and development expenditure of INR 14.7 million.
