On October 10, GM decided to temporarily stop production at the Rosario plant in Alvear, Argentina due to a lack of imported parts from their suppliers.
The problem for importing the needed parts not only consists of obtaining the authorization of the SIRA system (the one that regulates the entry of products into the country), but also the lack of U.S. dollars availability in the official currency exchange market for paying the merchandise.
“The production will be resumed as soon as parts are received from the affected suppliers,” announced the company in a statement to local media.
The plant manufactures the second-generation Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Tracker subcompact crossover, though both models have currently paused production.
