On May 7, 2024, the Thailand Automotive Institute (TAI) inked a memorandum of understanding with Better World Green PLC to develop proper disposal of end-of-life vehicles that meet international standards and Thai laws.

According to TAI president, this collaboration will promote academic research and development, as well as knowledge exchange and transfer, to find ways to efficiently dispose of EVs, especially their batteries.

Better World Green is an expert in industrial waste disposal and recycling. Its expertise will be utilized to design EV disposal methods, as well as recycling of EV’s energy storage system and metal, plastic, and rubber parts for other industrial uses.

Announced on May 8, 2024, Mitsubishi Motors Corp., Mitsubishi Motors Thailand (MMTh), along with PTT PLC and its EV business, Arun Plus Co., Ltd. will begin discussing collaboration in xEV business, including local manufacturing operations in Thailand, domestic sales and export, and related services. 

PTT has been a leader in Thailand's energy industry for many years, with extensive knowledge of the energy industry and automotive market, as well as its own EV ecosystem concept.

The Letter of intent (LOI) signing ceremony was held on May 7 at PTT’s HQ in Bangkok, regarding the business collaboration and development of EVs in Thailand.

Announced on April 30, 2024, Banpu NEXT, a leading Smart Energy Solutions provider in Asia-Pacific, and Durapower, a global leader in performance lithium battery storage solutions, have delivered the first battery pack to Cherdchai Motors Sales, the largest bus operator in Thailand.  

This also signifies a crucial step in the establishment of the battery assembly plant in Amata City, Chonburi, under DP NEXT Co., Ltd., the JV company of Banpu NEXT and Durapower.

Upon completion and in full operation, the DP NEXT battery assembly plant will deliver products specifically engineered to facilitate fast charging with a high storage capacity, thereby optimizing the driving range of Cherdchai’s e-Buses.  

The first pack delivered to Cherdchai is a high-performance lithium NMC battery solution, which allows the vehicle to travel 300 km on a single charge.
