Recent Years

Financial Overview

-In recent years, 15% of the Company's total sales revenue has been generated from exports.

Bimetal Bearings Ltd.

-Revenue for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2018, increased by 26.6% over the previous year to INR 1,821.3 million. The demand for intermediate and end products in the export segment showed robust demand which contributed to improving turnover for the year.

IP Rings Ltd.

-Sales for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2018 increased by 8.1% to INR 2,077.6 million. Commercial production was launched at an additional manufacturing unit. Customer demand has been consistently strong and the Company has been able to keep up with the growing demand.

Technical Alliances

-The Group has technical alliances with the following companies:

Bimetal Bearings Ltd.
-Bimetal Bearings shares an intellectual property and technology transfer agreement with Daido Metal Co., Ltd., Japan for the production of a range of high performance and Euro III compliant lead-free materials, manufacturing process up-gradation and introduction of contemporary overplay plating process.

IP Rings Ltd.

-IP Rings Ltd. has a technical tie-up with Austria-based Miba for carbon friction lining of synchrocones and other synchronizer components.

-IP Rings Ltd. has been provided technical assistance for PVD rings from the JV partner Nippon Piston Ring Company.
 

R&D Activities (FY ended Mar. 31, 2018)

IP Rings Ltd.
-In the fiscal year ended March 31, 2018, IP Rings Ltd. invested a total of INR 3.4 million in research and development, which was approximately 0.16% of its total sales.

-The following are specific R&D activities that IP Rings focused on in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2018 . 

  • Development of low piston ring pack for BSVI norms
  • Development of side rails with GN-PVD for Gasoline engine.
  • Improvement of the 2-piece Oil ring free gap control
  • Development of Hypoid Gears
  • Development of slot in forming process

 -The following are specific R&D activities that IP Rings plans to focus on in the future: 

  • Development of smaller diameter rings for Turbo Charger Engine.
  • Development of bigger diameter rings for Top ring.
  • Development of new low friction coating for meeting Euro V and VI norms

Bimetal Bearings Ltd.
-In the fiscal year ended March 31, 2018, Bimetal Bearings had a total research and development expenditure of INR 14.7 million.

-The following are specific R&D activities that the company focused on in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2018. 

  • Development of high strength lead free Alu-tin alloys for engine bearing application and samples submitted to the customer and vehicle level validation is under progress.
  • Development of lead free bronze alloy for Bearings and Bushes.
  • Latest software has been installed to strengthen new product development methodology to meet EURO VI norms.
  • Establishing product credibility through global supplies.
