On April 23, Daimler Buses announced its partnership with a battery system expert BMZ Poland, a BMZ Holding company, to develop the next generation of e-bus batteries. They will enhance the current technology to create the NMC4 battery, succeeding the NMC3, offering high energy density and long service life. Customers can expect to benefit from these batteries by the mid-2020s.

Daimler Buses is committed to its e-roadmap, with electric city buses in production since 2018, intercity e-buses planned by the mid-2020s, and electrified coaches by 2030. The company aims for local carbon dioxide-neutral models based on batteries or hydrogen across all segments by 2030, initially focusing on Europe and Latin America. By 2039 in Europe, only carbon dioxide-neutral new vehicles will be sold, and by 2030, this will apply to city buses.
