Smart Energy Week 2021 (Date: March 3 - March 5, 2021, Venue: Tokyo Big Sight exhibition area) was held amidst the COVID-19 crisis just as last year. When entering the venue, visitors were required to wear masks, disinfect with alcohol, and have their body temperatures checked with a thermal imaging camera. At the venue, some booths were canceled or only display panels were used at some booths that had no staff assigned to provide explanations. According to Reed Exhibitions Japan, the organizer of the event, the total number of visitors for Smart Energy Week 2021 was 28,345 (over the course of the three days), which was less than the 66,576 visitors in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic, but more than the 18,509 visitors in 2020.

This report introduces the electrification (FC (fuel cell)) related items on display at Smart Energy Week 2021, and focuses on the 17th International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo (FC EXPO 2021).
