A total of 192 companies and organizations participated in the Tokyo Motor Show 2019 that was held over a 12 day period from October 24 to November 4, 2019 at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition complex, including the Aomi exhibition hall, the MEGA WEB theme park, and the West and South Wings of the Ariake exhibition hall. The Tokyo Motor Show 2019 was attended by 1,300,900 visitors, exceeding the initial goal of hosting 1 million visitors. Attendance increased by nearly 70% compared to last year’s event, and was the first time since 2007 that attendance exceeded 1 million visitors.

This report introduces some of the prominent exhibits of plastics-related companies and organizations that were displayed in the Parts and Machinery category of products in the West and South Wings of the Ariake exhibition hall, and the FUTURE EXPO exhibit area in the MEGA WEB theme park. Compared to automotive technology exhibitions, motor shows tend to have more product concept displays than component displays. In addition, recent automotive trends include an increase in the number of displays related to sensors and cameras that are considered tools for autonomous driving, and there seemed to be an increase in the number of displays relating to thermal cooling as the number of components used in vehicles that generate heat has increased.
