2019/10/10

Summary

The 22nd Kansai (Osaka) Mechanical Components & Materials Technology Expo M-Tech event (period: October 2 to 4, 2019, venue: INTEX Osaka) was organized by Reed Exhibitions Japan, Ltd., with 1,024 participating exhibitors, facilitating focused and specialized business meetings on components and materials such as bearings, screws and springs. Also, the event included a technical symposium that was held to share knowledge regarding the latest technological trends, which was well attended by representatives from the manufacturing industry, mainly those responsible in the areas of design, development, manufacturing, and production engineering.

One characteristic of the event is the increasing participation by overseas small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). This year, over 300 companies exhibited, 1.5 times that of last year, and 50% of the floor space was occupied by exhibitors from China and Southeast Asia. This exhibition provides clear evidence that the manufacturing industry is shifting from Japan to China and Southeast Asia. Exhibits from Japan primarily revolved around the exhibition booths of 18 prefectural and 23 municipal governments promoting their local manufacturing industry clusters, quite similar to the technology exhibitions of the SMEs.

This report covers a number of parts displayed at the booths of exhibitors from Japan, China and Thailand, including parts that are currently used in automotive applications as well as some of the technologies that have the potential to be used in the future.
