Chinese OEMs Showcase New NEVs, Connected Cars, and new Brands

Summary

 This report will highlight the brands and product lineups of the major Chinese mid-sized automobile OEMs Geely, Great Wall Motor (GWM), BYD, Chery, Zotye and JAC (Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group Corp., Ltd.) exhibited at the Auto Shanghai 2019.

 Geely’s exhibition area at the Show made a striking impression with the presentation of world premiere concept models and new car brands. In addition, several NEV (New Energy Vehicle) models were displayed showing Geely’s determination to enter into the NEV field.

 Great Wall Motor continues to focus on enhancing its superiority in SUVs and at this Show released many new models in a broad wide product lineup and various brands to appeal to the market. Great Wall Motor is also accelerating the integration of intelligence and electrification.

 BYD’s superiority in the NEV field is preeminent and along with exhibiting its “e-platform” in the new “e-series,” BYD also highlighted many notable new models.

 At this Show, Chery presented many new models including its newest model in the EXEED premium brand.

 Zotye highlighted two new models with the initial intention of “developing cars that can be purchased by ordinary people.”

 JAC maintains its strategy of full development of passenger cars and commercial vehicles, and for the last few years has been making efforts with NEVs. JAC will outsource the production of the NIO EV model, and announced that it will invest jointly with VW in the construction of an EV production plant. A new NEV model was presented at this Show.
