As the megatrends of connectivity, autonomous driving, shared transportation and electrification have influenced the automotive industry, automakers have sought to incorporate advanced technologies into vehicles to appeal to their customers.

GM has aimed to use its Cadillac luxury brand to introduce new technologies to its customers. For example, in September 2017, the automaker introduced the Super Cruise feature for the Cadillac CT6, enabling hands-free driving on specific freeways in the U.S. GM has also developed vehicle models, specifically the Chevrolet Volt and Bolt, exclusively as electric vehicles.

Ford has aimed to provide advanced systems more consistently throughout its lineup. The 2019 Lincoln Nautilus features Lincoln Co-Pilot360, which consists of a number of driver-assist technologies combined into a standard package. Ford also promoted the refreshed 2019 Ford Edge, stating that the mid-size crossover SUV had the most standard driver-assist features in the segment.

FCA, with its recent focus on utility vehicles and light trucks, especially in the Ram and Jeep brands, demonstrated the applicability of connectivity and driver-assist features for the segments. The automaker also emphasized its electrification efforts, most notably with the eTorque mild hybrid system on both the 2019 Ram 1500 and 2018 Jeep Wrangler.

This report shows the availability of CASE technologies on vehicle models recently launched by GM, Ford and FCA in the U.S. that are representative of the three automakers, noting certain trends and describing specific technologies. Specific models, including refreshes, are included in the comparison tables if they feature significant technological additions. For example, the Cadillac CT6 launched in 2016 is included in the report, as the Super Cruise hands-free semi-autonomous system was introduced on the CT6 in September 2017.
