  May 2022 sales of New Energy Vehicles in China increased 80.5% year-over-year (y/y) to 342,000 units. 1,667,000 New Energy Vehicles were sold in the January-May period, up 103.3% over the same period last year. Passenger cars accounted for 97.0% of New Energy Vehicle sales, trucks for 1.5%, and buses for 1.5%.

  By province, sales from January through May 2022 were 259,000 units in Guangdong, up 110.9% y/y. 190,000 units were sold in the same period in Zhejiang, up 107.1% y/y, and 147,000 units were sold in Jiangsu, an increase of 130.3% y/y. By city, sales in Shenzhen were 76,000 units, an increase of 45.5% y/y; in Chengdu, sales were 61,000 units, an increase of 185.6% y/y; and in Shanghai, sales were down 37.5% to 57,000 units.
