On August 27, Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. (Great Wall Motor) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Beijing LiangDao Intelligent Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. (LiangDao) and Ibeo Automotive Systems GmbH (Ibeo) for a production and R&D project for Level-3(L3)/Level-4(L4) autonomous driving. Great Wall Motor will adopt a new 4D solid-state LiDAR called ibeoNEXT as the core part of its autonomous driving sensor system. LiangDao will participate in Great Wall Motor’s production project by validating the ibeoNEXT and Great Wall Motor’s environment detection system.
The 4D solid-state LiDAR ibeoNEXT adopted by Great Wall Motor for the project will not contain any moving components. The sensor will therefore become lighter and feature a more compact structure for applications in the SAE L2-L5 autonomous driving systems. LiangDao has started the tests and validations for the ibeoNEXT in Germany and China simultaneously and will provide a complete range of testing and validation services including the building of high-precision data collection platforms, global data collection, key scenario extraction and analysis as well as perception testing. It will support the realization of SOP (Start of Production) as scheduled through its work on the ibeoNEXT and Great Wall Motor’s environment detection system.
LiangDao is a provider of new-type testing and evaluation services in the autonomous driving field. It is dedicated to promoting the production of advanced autonomous driving products (ranging from L3 to L5) through the applications of such technologies as LiDAR and multi-sensor integration.
Ibeo is a world-leading company specialized in the technologies related to LiDAR sensors and relevant products as well as a leader in the field of software tools. Ibeo’s technologies have been widely applied in vehicle assistance systems and the autonomous driving field.
