On June 29, Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. (Great Wall Motor) officially released its Smart Coffee System 2.0 and new high-nickel battery.
The System 2.0 comprises one intelligent center, one strong foundation and three intelligent upgrades.
One intelligent center refers to the new GEEP electronic and electrical architecture, which is slated for launch in the third quarter of 2022. With functions such as power, chassis, body, assisted autopilot and vehicle control, the architecture serves as the third brain in addition to an intelligent cockpit and a high-level autonomous driving system.
An intelligent chassis-by-wire is the strong foundation. It is designed with the goal of enabling level-4 and above autonomous driving and consists of five core systems in relation to steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, shift-by-wire, throttle-by-wire and suspension-by-wire. It controls automotive motions in the principle of six degrees of freedom, that is, all motions driven by a chassis. The electro-mechanical brake-by-wire system uses four-wheel EMB (electro-mechanical braking) technology and weighs 10% less than other equivalent products. In addition, the steer-by-wire technology that supports level-4 and above autonomous driving allows folding of the steering wheel, leading to higher precision of steering control and quicker response.
Three intelligent upgrades are related to intelligent cockpits, intelligent driving and intelligent services. Regarding intelligent cockpits, Great Wall Motor introduced the first cockpit OS known as GC-OS under Smart Coffee, which is applicable to all the models of the automaker. In terms of intelligent driving, Great Wall Motor released its proprietary third-generation autonomous driving computing platform ICU3.0, with single-board computing power of 360TOPS (upgradable to 1,440TOPS). The ICU3.0 can have a maximum of 6 gigabit Ethernet, which allows concurrent connection to high-definition cameras, millimeter wave radars and solid-state LiDARs. It is therefore able to fully meet demands of current level-3 and future level-4/5 autonomous driving under all scenarios. Great Wall Motor’s first models to have the ICU3.0 platform and enable level-4 autonomous driving under specified scenarios will arrive on the market in 2022.
The automaker also unveiled a new high-nickel battery, for which it has obtained dozens of key technology patents with respect to heat source inhibition, isolation, cooling, and discharge. The battery has ternary 811 high-nickel high-capacity cells and can avoid fire and explosion at the time of thermal runaway triggered by single or multiple cells anywhere inside the battery pack. In 2022, the battery will be fully applied to the automaker’s new energy models as a next-generation power battery. Great Wall Motor will also make its patents for the battery freely available to the public.

On March 11, Jeep presented the all-new 2022 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer full-size SUVs.
Built in Warren, Michigan, the 2022 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are scheduled to arrive in dealerships in the second half of 2021
Substantial emphasis was placed on designing an all-new body-on-frame structure that uses high-strength steel to bolster vehicle performance, safety, reliability and reduce overall weight.
Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer offer a standard third row with available seating for up to eight passengers, available on all trims.
The 2022 Wagoneer carries the proven 5.7-liter V8 engine, which develops 392 hp and 404 lb-ft of torque, fitted with the next-generation 48-volt eTorque hybrid as standard equipment.
The Wagoneer is the first vehicle with the next-generation eTorque hybrid system, which features enhancements that enables up to 130 lb-ft of torque to be available on initial throttle tip-in.
The eTorque motor generator feeds energy to a 390 watt-hour lithium-ion 12-cell Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC)-Graphite battery.
The 2022 Grand Wagoneer is powered by the 6.4-liter V8 engine.
The two vehicles offer legendary capability with three 4x4 systems: Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II with active low range and rear electronic limited slip differential.
