On September 9, the MOGO BUS, a new-generation autonomous bus with level 4 autonomy co-developed by Mogo Auto Intelligence and Telemetics Information Technology Co., Ltd. (Mogo Auto) and Xiamen Golden Dragon Bus Co. Ltd. (Golden Dragon), rolled off the production line in Xiamen, Fujian Province. In addition, Mogo Auto and Golden Dragon signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the R&D and mass production of autonomous vehicles, and the optimization of the smart transport industry chain.
The MOGO BUS offers two variants, the MOGO BUS M1 (autonomous shuttle) and the MOGO BUS M2 (autonomous bus). Both of them are equipped with Mogo Auto’s full-stack software and hardware solutions which provide level 4 autonomous driving operation services in multiple scenarios such as closed or semi-closed parks and urban open roads. The MOGO BUS M1 realizes fully autonomous driving without steering wheel, accelerator or braking pedals.
The new-generation MOGO BUS is equipped with the Mogo Auto Pilot and the Mogo Auto Brain, offering a maximum computing power of over 1000TOPS. The vehicle comes standard with 8 LiDAR units onboard. The longest detection distance reaches 200m, which achieves 360-degree detection without blind spots. The MOGO BUS also integrates Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), and Feature-Oriented Positioning (FOP), achieving centimeter-level high-precision positioning. The MOGO BUS M2 supports a driving range of up to 360km.
The MOGO BUS can perform collaborative perception and collaborative analysis through the roadside intelligent devices in Mogo Auto’s “Vehicle-Road-Cloud Integration” system. The Mogo Cloud System can acquire the real-time updates of the autonomous bus and perform intelligent dispatching.
Up to now, Mogo Auto has been conducting operations in regions such as Beijing, Jiangsu, and Hunan.

On September 8, Ford Pro introduced the all-new battery-powered E-Transit Custom. E-Transit Custom will be built by Ford Otosan in Kocaeli, Turkey, and is due to start production in autumn 2023. This all-electric version of Europe’s best-selling van is designed from the ground up to deliver new levels of productivity to customers in the one-ton van segment. E-Transit Custom is one of four new Ford Pro electric commercial vehicles coming to Europe by 2024.
Next-generation battery technology enables a targeted range of 380 km and 125 kW fast charging ability. E-Transit Custom offers new digital solutions for multi-drop deliveries, and cab and load compartment access. E-Transit Custom delivers payloads up to 1,100 kg, a lower load floor with easier access, and a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 kg. Independent rear suspension and class-leading motor power help deliver a new level of driving experience for customers.
E-Transit Custom’s 400-volt, 74 kWh usable battery pack uses advanced 82 Ah pouch cells shared with the Ford F-150 Lightning to deliver 12% more energy density than the E-Transit. Customers can choose from 100 kW or 160 kW (135 PS or 217 PS) motor power outputs to suit their needs, each offering a class-leading 415 Nm of torque. The cab is also a business hub, with 5G connectivity and a flexible workspace including smart features like a steering wheel that folds to become an ergonomic holder for laptops and tablets.
E-Transit Custom features an energy-efficient braking system with one-pedal drive capability. E-Transit Custom’s 11 kW AC three-phase onboard charger is capable of fully recharging the battery in 7.8 hours. E-Transit Custom also supports DC fast charging up to 125 kW for a 15-80% recharge in 41 minutes.

On September 7, the BMW Group announced its plans to launch its first vehicles featuring completely vegan interiors in 2023. Fully vegan interiors will be available for both BMW and MINI models. This is being made possible primarily through the development of innovative materials with leather-like properties. The BMW Group is thus serving the demand for vegan and leather-free interiors, which is set to increase further soon, especially in the US, China, and Europe.
It will also be possible to use these materials for steering wheel surfaces. Replacing raw materials of animal origin makes a significant contribution to increasing sustainability in vehicle production. The introduction of new surface material for steering wheels will see the proportion of vehicle components that contain traces of raw materials of animal origin fall to less than 1% in the respective BMW and MINI vehicles. The new steering wheel surface material reduces CO2e emissions along the value chain by around 85% compared to leather.
The floor mats for various models are made from mono-material, thus avoiding material mixes that are difficult to recycle. As a result, the BMW Group saves around 23,000 tons of CO2 and an additional 1,600 tons of waste every year, since the recycled floor mats and waste material are also reused within the production process.
