On July 4, GOLDI Mobility Kft (GOLDI) and Hy-Hybrid Energy (Hy-Hybrid) release the drivetrain components arrangement of the articulated fuel cell bus (GOLDiON H18). The bus has recently come off the coating line and is now moved to the final assembly and commissioning stage. GOLDiON H18 is a special plug-in hybrid bus, which means apart from hydrogen it also runs on electricity. The bus can be refueled at a high flow rate from a hydrogen station like other hydrogen buses and its plug-in technology allows the battery to be re-charged from an electrical outlet.
The bus is equipped with components from reputed brands, e.g., a battery from CATL, fuel cell system from Horizon fuel cell technologies, electric motor from DANA, Axle from ZF, steering gear by BOSCH, ABS by WABCO, air-conditioner from Webasto and heating system by Valeo. The drivetrain components arrangement was finalized in the light of structural, mechanical, and aerodynamic force balances to ensure that the bus is equipped with the highest standards of smooth and safe driving.

Schaeffler AG (Schaeffler) announced that it has presented its innovative solutions from Schaeffler’s electromobility, chassis systems, and hydrogen technology operations at the 12th Schaeffler Kolloquium event in Bühl, Germany, on June 29 – July 1, 2022, where the company presented a wide range of new developments in electric motor technology such as the new 4in1 e-axle, an improved wave winding technology, that enables higher energy-conversion efficiencies in current radial flux electric motors, and a new type of axial flux motor that allows it to realize electric powertrains with high volumetric power densities and hence achieve even greater powertrain efficiencies. In addition, Schaeffler is currently building a new global flagship plant for electric motors in Bühl. In the field of chassis systems, Schaeffler has presented its steer-by-wire, a key technology that eliminates the mechanical connection between steering wheel and steering gear, and the Schaeffler Rolling Chassis, a scalable platform for new, driverless mobility solutions. These solutions are being developed via the joint venture company Schaeffler Paravan Technologies. At the event, Schaeffler also presented bipolar plates for fuel cell stacks, showcased for the first time in a demonstration vehicle, which is an electric van rebuilt from the ground up by Schaeffler, driven by its 3in1 e-axle and powered by its fuel cell system. These bipolar plates have been developed through Innoplate, a joint venture between Schaeffler and Symbio. Innoplate will commence large-series production of bipolar plates at the start of 2024. (From a press release dated June 29, 2022)
