On September 15, XPeng Inc. (XPeng) announced the launch of its all-new P5 intelligent battery electric sedan.
The vehicle is available in six versions: 460G, 460E, 550G, 550E, 550P and 600P, at a price range between CNY 157,900 and 223,900 after subsidies. Vehicle deliveries will start at the end of October 2021.
Its front design adopts the family-style X Robot Face. For the first time, the element "X" is manifested by a see-through LED taillight which echoes the headlights. In this way, the car becomes highly recognizable.
In terms of dimensions, it is 4,808mm long, 1,840mm wide and 1,520mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,768mm.
In terms of power, it is equipped with a second-generation permanent magnet synchronous motor that delivers a maximum power of 155kW and a peak torque of 310Nm mated to a lithium iron phosphate battery (55.9kWh in capacity) or a ternary lithium battery (66.2kWh/71.4kWh in capacity). The vehicle supports an NEDC range of 460km/550km/600km. The vehicle adopts the front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout.
All models of this vehicle possess functions such as a 15.6-inch touch screen, a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel, and the third-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship digital cockpit platform (with an SA8155P processor). The 460E/550E versions are equipped with the XPILOT 3.0 hardware, which includes 5 high-accuracy millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, 4 surround-view cameras, 9 high-sensitivity cameras and 1 sub-meter-level high-precision positioning unit. The 550P/600P versions feature the XPILOT 3.5 hardware, with 2 more LiDARs compared to the 460E/550E versions. The 460G/550G versions come with only 4 ultrasonic sensors and 1 surround-view camera. In addition, both 460E/550E and 550P/600P versions adopt the XPILOT 2.5 software as the standard configuration, which can be upgraded to the XPILOT autonomous driving assistance system of the corresponding hardware level by purchasing software services.
Supported by the XPILOT 3.5 autonomous driving assistance system, it possesses the urban NGP (navigation guided pilot) function. The scope of NGP will be extended from expressways and highways to urban roads. Apart from NGP, XPILOT 3.5 will also provide functions such as NGP-L (an upgraded version of NGP which can be helpful on highways) and VPA-L (Valet Parking Assist which enables the vehicle to memorize parking spaces and safely park itself in cross-storey parking situations).

Hella announced that it has demonstrated its distinctive expertise in the fields of lighting and electronics in the Mercedes EQA. In addition to innovative LED headlamps, Hella has developed a characteristic, one-metre long light strip for the front of the vehicle. One LED is integrated on each side of the light strip. An innovative optical concept developed at the Hella competence centre for car body lighting in Ljubljana, Slovenia, ensures homogeneous lighting throughout. The light strip is produced at the Hella plant in Lippstadt. Hella has also integrated a heated radome, which is a complex radar cover (radome, abbreviation for radar dome), into the front of the vehicle. It protects the front radar sensors from soiling and weather conditions. In the Mercedes EQA, it is located behind the carmaker's emblem. Hella has also integrated a high-voltage battery management system in the vehicle. This ensures safe and reliable operation of the electric vehicle's nearly 70 kWh lithium-ion battery and monitors the battery's voltage, temperature and current. On September 15, Force Motors India launched the final avatar of the all-new Gurkha 2021.
It is powered by a new 2.6 litre 91 bhp Mercedes derived common rail, direct injection, turbocharged diesel engine that generates 250 Nm torque at 1,400 – 2,400 rpm.
The 5-speed Mercedes G-28 transmission with cable shift and the hydraulically activated clutch with booster ensure effortless gear changes.
It can negotiate slopes of 35 degrees in 4x4 low first gear in the crawl mode, and also wade through streams of up to 700mm depth. It offers turning circle radius of just 5.65m.
It is built on a ground up modular architecture platform with an all new wider and longer body, full new interiors, a new crash compliant, high strength C-in-C chassis, new coil spring suspension on all four wheels fine-tuned to achieve the right balance and offer best in class ride quality on multiple surfaces.
It has features like steering column with tilt and telescopic adjustment, power windows, central locking, speed sensing door locks, rear parking sensors, single piece rear door with wipers, variable intermittent speed front wipers etc.
Force will commence deliveries in October.
