On March 30, CARIAD announced that the Automated Driving Alliance by Bosch and CARIAD is now out on the roads with its first vehicles. Their goal is to collect data to improve self-driving functions. The Automated Driving Alliance is first working on introducing a driver assistance system with active lane changes on the motorway. The target system will then allow hands-free driving in a wide variety of situations (Level 3). An expansion to include Level 4 functionalities is being evaluated.
They can rely on test vehicles from the Alliance, comprehensively equipped with new sensors and new electronic control units (ECUs). The ramp-up phase for this vehicle fleet has already started, and it’s being expanded step by step for data acquisition and testing. As the Alliance’s software stack has already been integrated into the first vehicles, the ADAS/AD functions can now be tested in multiple environments. In simulations; with cars on the road; in closed-loop systems where functions are taking over driving tasks; and in open-loop systems gathering valuable data. The first cars on the road, with their open-loop systems, are now collecting and recording measurement data.

On March 28, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China released a draft version of the “Construction Guidelines for the National Automotive Chip Standard System (2023 Edition)”, which is open for public comment until April 28.
Based on the technical structure of automotive chips, the construction guidelines build a standard system architecture from two dimensions, namely application scenarios and standard content. The document also clarified the principles, goals, and methods for the construction of the automotive chip standard system in the coming days. The automotive chip standard system contains provisions for components and modules such as automotive integrated circuits, discrete devices, sensors, and optoelectronics.
It was proposed in the construction guidelines that by 2025, more than 30 key standards for automotive chips should be formulated, covering general requirements such as environment and reliability, electromagnetic compatibility, functional safety, and information security; technical requirements for key products and applications such as control chips, computing chips, storage chips, power chips, and communication chips; as well as test methods for matching vehicles and key systems. By 2030, more than 70 standards related to automotive chips will be developed to support key areas such as basic and general requirements, product and technology applications, and matching tests.
From an MIIT press release
On March 29, Sansera Engineering announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement for a strategic investment in MMRFIC Technology Private Limited (MMRFIC). MMRFIC is a research, design, and manufacturing entity, building sub-systems for next-generation radars by leveraging machine learning with artificial intelligence and, mm-wave sensors with hybrid beam-forming capabilities. As per the terms of the agreement, Sansera would make an investment of INR 200 million in MMRFIC wherein the equity percentage will be determined on the conversion of CCPS based on FY 2024 EBITDA. Based on projected FY 2024 EBITDA this investment would result in approx. 21% stake in MMRFIC. Sansera has a right to invest further and increase its stake up to 51% at a predefined valuation formula.
The investment has been made to enter the high technology space and to have access to a strong R&D and engineering team which can address their priority market segments viz. including the automotive (autonomous driving — subsystems) technologies that can be exploited in the future. MMRFIC's day-to-day business and operations will continue to be managed by its existing management team.
