On September 18, Honda announced its 2020 CR-V lineup for the U.S., including the new Hybrid model with the latest version of Honda’s two-motor system.
Similar in design to the Accord Hybrid, the new CR-V Hybrid powertrain has a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine operating primarily as an electric generator with two motors, a generator motor, and a 181-horsepower drive motor.
Peak system output is 212 hp (and 232 lb-ft of torque), up from 190 hp on the gas-powered CR-V.
Not only will the CR-V Hybrid be the first Honda Hybrid with all-wheel-drive, it will have all-wheel-drive as standard on all hybrid trims.
With the batteries packaged under the rear floor, the CR-V Hybrid retains the split-back flat-folding rear seats of the gasoline model.
The gas-powered 2020 CR-V model will launch in fall 2019, and will continue to be produced at four plants in North America, in Ohio, Indiana and Canada.
The new CR-V Hybrid will launch in early 2020, and production for the U.S. market will take place at Honda's Greensburg, Indiana plant alongside the gas-powered CR-V and Insight hybrid sedan.
The company will invest USD 4.2 million and add 34 new jobs in the plant to support production of the CR-V Hybrid.
Honda's Russells Point, Ohio, plant will manufacture the CR-V Hybrid's two-motor power unit, and the company's Anna, Ohio, engine plant will produce its 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine.
The Accord Hybrid is built at the company’s Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio.

On September 10, SEAT informed that following the announcement of the SEAT Mii electric and the el-Born, the brand's first two fully electric models, at the international event Frankfurt Motor Show CUPRA is presenting its new Tavascan concept car. It will be joined in by the new SEAT Tarraco FR PHEV, the brand's first plug-in hybrid electric SUV, which will be making its world debut in Frankfurt and is the fourth electric model of the six that the company announced it would launch by 2021.
The Tavascan concept car is CUPRA's first fully electric vehicle, and it was developed on the MEB platform.
Furthermore, the new SEAT Tarraco is now available in a hybrid engine version and FR trim, featuring a range of more than 50 km and emissions below 50 g/km. Delivering 245 hp thanks to its 110 kW/150 hp petrol engine and its 85 kW/116 hp electric motor, the Tarraco PHEV is the most powerful in the range.
The Mii electric is being sold in 14 countries (Spain, Germany, Italy, France, the UK, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Poland) since mid September and will come to market in early 2020.
The new brand is breaking records this year and from January to August it sold 17,100 cars, which is 71% more than in the same period of 2018. In addition, this year has seen the beginning of construction of its new headquarters, located next to SEAT's head office facilities in Martorell.
