On April 2, Dongfeng Motor signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the government of Xiangyang City, Hubei Province and Huawei. The three sides aim to make Xiangyang a national demonstration zone of smart connected cars, an innovative test area of smart mobility and smart logistics, and an intelligent traffic benchmark city.
The agreement combines engineering projects for smart car valley, smart mobility, smart logistics, and a smart transportation cloud platform.
For the smart car valley, they will form a smart connected car ecosystem that integrates R&D, production, testing, experience, application, and assembly, in order to attract upstream and downstream industries;
For smart mobility, the parties will leverage Dongfeng Motor’s mobility platform to realize commercial demonstration operation of smart connected cars;
For smart logistics, they will use AI, robots, and automation technologies to achieve customized, efficient, and autonomous logistics;
For smart cloud transportation, they will leverage Xiangyang’s T3+ infrastructures and AI+EI technologies to improve SaaS services and enhance application of a smart car valley, mobility, and logistics.
At the conference, Dongfeng Motor also showcased the Dongfeng Fengshen’s next-generation AX7, E70, autonomous logistics vehicles, and smart connected cars. The vehicles will be used in Dongfeng Motor’s sharing mobility business. The company also revealed the Sharing-VAN mobility service platform. Vehicles underpinned by this platform have no driver seats, steering wheels, throttles, or brakes. It provides space for six passengers and integrates LTE-V/5G, unmanned driving, electric NEV, car rental, and public mobility solutions. The vehicles will be used in transportation hubs, scenic areas, science and technology industrial parks, and suburban residential areas.
