Leoni and relayr, a specialist in industrial solutions involving the IoT, announced that they are entering a strategic partnership to work on linking intelligent cable and automation systems with IoT technologies. The upcoming solutions are aimed at enabling carmakers and their suppliers to reduce unplanned downtime of robotic manufacturing lines and raising production efficiency. Through this partnership, Leoni and relayr will be jointly developing and providing an intelligent solution for predictive maintenance and monitoring of robot lines in car manufacturing based on the LEONiQ technology and relayr’s IoT portfolio. Together, the two companies will be realizing the first test installations in car production as early as 2019 in order then to offer their solutions to a broad customer base from 2020. On February 21, Infineon announced that it will launch a new family of Embedded Power ICs at this year’s Embedded World trade fair. The TLE985x series provides highly integrated, AEC Q-100 qualified H-bridge driver motor control solutions for 2-phase DC and single-phase brushless DC motors. It will support automotive customers in replacing relays in low-end motor control applications such as sunroof and window lift.
By switching from relays to MOSFETs, the higher level of integration reduces system costs. Additional advantages are that the PWM control and the integrated current sense amplifier, which is calibrated, allow the motor currents to be adapted and thus the mechanics and motor to be optimized towards the application requirements.
The product family includes five devices with different flash sizes (48 - 96KB) and temperature ranges (Tj up to 175°C). In addition, different numbers of half-bridge drivers for uni- or bidirectional DC motor applications are offered. Samples of the TLE985x devices will be available from March 2019 onward.

On January 9, General Motors announced it will collaborate with EVgo, ChargePoint and Greenlots, three of the nation’s leading electric vehicle (EV) charging networks, to enable access to more than 31,000 charging ports.
GM plans to aggregate dynamic data from each of the EV charging networks so owners of the Chevrolet Bolt EV can have a more seamless charging experience.
Information provided by the charging networks, which will include real-time data to report if a specific charging station is working, available and compatible with a Bolt EV, will be relayed through an app interface with the networks to streamline charger access.
GM expects to finalize the terms of its collaboration and agreements with EVgo, ChargePoint and Greenlots during the first quarter of 2019.
GM’s Maven Gig and EVgo partnered in early 2018 to deliver the nation’s first dedicated fast-charging network for on-demand drivers.
