On August 9, Geely Automobile Holding Limited (Geely Auto) launched the all-new Binyue Cool small SUV. As an upgraded version of the Binyue (English name: Coolray), the new model has made improvements in its appearance, size, power, and configuration. It is available in 3 variants, priced between CNY 99,800 and CNY 119,800.
The Binyue Cool applies a sporty body with two colors. The combination of an energy-bursting front and a furious air intake grille infuses sportiness into the vehicle, which is very popular among young people.
The vehicle measures 4,380mm long, 1,800mm wide and 1,609mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,600mm.
The vehicle is equipped with a 1.5L direct injection turbocharged engine that delivers a maximum power output of 133kW and a peak torque of 290Nm, mated to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 7.6 seconds, consuming 6.2L of fuel per 100km in the WLTC mode.
All variants of the vehicle have standard features such as a 10.25-inch LCD instrument display, a 12.3-inch HD console screen, and a Geely Galaxy OS (operating system). Some versions have a 540-degree panoramic imaging system with a “transparent chassis” (a technology which provides a see-through view of road conditions under the body relayed by cameras), a Face ID system, a driver fatigue monitoring system, as well as Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities which include Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and Automatic Emergency Brake with Pedestrian Recognition (AEB-P).
