On April 16, Mando Corp. announced that it concluded a contract for supply of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) to Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. of India. With the signing of the contract, Mando will advance into the ADAS market in India.
The ADAS for which Mando has won an order this time is the front radar and the front camera of AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) which controls the vehicle in an emergency. The devices will be developed with the accumulated technology and knowhow of Mando, specifically for uneven road conditions in India.
 Efforts will be made especially for the development of specialized specifications that can detect large animals, by using the Big Data collected through Mando's R&D centers in India.

On April 17, Hyundai introduced its all-new eighth-generation 2020 Sonata at the New York International Auto Show.
Based on Hyundai’s innovative third-generation vehicle platform, production of the 2020 Sonata starts in September 2019 at the company’s plant in Montgomery, Alabama, and retail sales begin in October.
The 2020 Sonata represents Hyundai’s new focus on creating emotional value using technology, proportion, and styling that includes a chrome strip with graduated LED Daytime Running Lights embedded with Hidden Lighting Lamps.
Customers can choose between a 2.5-liter GDI engine that produces 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque, and a 1.6-liter turbocharged T-GDI engine that produces 180 hp pand 195 lb-ft of torque, both mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2020 Sonata is equipped with Hyundai’s latest SmartSense advanced driver assistance systems that use three radar sensors, 12 ultrasonic sensors and five cameras to support standard Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Advanced Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go features and optional Highway Driving Assist.
The 2020 Sonata supports Hyundai’s Digital Key, which utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, via a dedicated smartphone app.

On April 17, Toyota introduced the fourth-generation three-row 2020 Highlander SUV at the New York International Auto Show.
Arriving in Toyota dealerships in winter 2019, the Highlander gas model will arrive in December 2019 and the Highlander Hybrid will arrive in February 2020.
The 2020 Highlander is built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA-K) at the Princeton plant in Indiana.
The 3.5-liter V6 produces 295 hp and 263 lb-ft of torque, mated to the Direct Shift 8-speed automatic transmission.
The new-generation Toyota Hybrid System in the 2020 Highlander Hybrid combines a 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder gasoline engine with two electric motors to produce 240 total system horsepower.
The 2020 Highlander offers a choice of FWD or three different available AWD systems- two for the V6 models and a unique AWD system for the Highlander Hybrid.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard in all Highlander models and includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beam, Lane Tracing Assist, and Road Sign Assist.
Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Parking Support Braking and Intelligent Clearance Sonar are also available.
