On September 15, SAIC Motor Corporation Limited (SAIC Motor) announced an additional investment in autonomous driving startup Momenta following its lead investment in Momenta's C round funding in March. The two parties will further strengthen their strategic cooperation in core technologies of intelligent driving and jointly develop a full-stack intelligent driving algorithm to promote the rapid application of Level-4 autonomous driving in China.
For years, SAIC Motor has been making constant efforts in the fields of passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles, promoting the commercial applications of intelligent driving technology.
In terms of passenger vehicles, Zhiji Motor has launched IM AD intelligent driving system which is currently running road tests on complex roads in the urban areas of first- and second-tier cities across the country. Its first new model will be delivered by the end of 2021. The R brand independently developed PP-CEMTM, a full-stack high-level intelligent driving solution, which has constructed a perception system that includes LiDARs, 4D imaging radars, HD maps, vision cameras, and millimeter-wave radars. It is therefore able to multi-dimensionally perceive objects beyond visual range in all-weather conditions. The Robotaxi project is proceeding successfully. The first batch of Level-4 driverless taxis will be set for trial operation in Shanghai and Suzhou in the second half of this year.
With regard to commercial vehicles, an intelligent commercial vehicle driving technology startup owned by SAIC Motor is promoting the applications of Level-4 and Level-3 autonomous driving products which are applied in special scenarios and trunk logistics scenarios such as ports and plants.

On September 15, XPeng Inc. (XPeng) announced the launch of its all-new P5 intelligent battery electric sedan.
The vehicle is available in six versions: 460G, 460E, 550G, 550E, 550P and 600P, at a price range between CNY 157,900 and 223,900 after subsidies. Vehicle deliveries will start at the end of October 2021.
Its front design adopts the family-style X Robot Face. For the first time, the element "X" is manifested by a see-through LED taillight which echoes the headlights. In this way, the car becomes highly recognizable.
In terms of dimensions, it is 4,808mm long, 1,840mm wide and 1,520mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,768mm.
In terms of power, it is equipped with a second-generation permanent magnet synchronous motor that delivers a maximum power of 155kW and a peak torque of 310Nm mated to a lithium iron phosphate battery (55.9kWh in capacity) or a ternary lithium battery (66.2kWh/71.4kWh in capacity). The vehicle supports an NEDC range of 460km/550km/600km. The vehicle adopts the front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout.
All models of this vehicle possess functions such as a 15.6-inch touch screen, a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel, and the third-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship digital cockpit platform (with an SA8155P processor). The 460E/550E versions are equipped with the XPILOT 3.0 hardware, which includes 5 high-accuracy millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, 4 surround-view cameras, 9 high-sensitivity cameras and 1 sub-meter-level high-precision positioning unit. The 550P/600P versions feature the XPILOT 3.5 hardware, with 2 more LiDARs compared to the 460E/550E versions. The 460G/550G versions come with only 4 ultrasonic sensors and 1 surround-view camera. In addition, both 460E/550E and 550P/600P versions adopt the XPILOT 2.5 software as the standard configuration, which can be upgraded to the XPILOT autonomous driving assistance system of the corresponding hardware level by purchasing software services.
Supported by the XPILOT 3.5 autonomous driving assistance system, it possesses the urban NGP (navigation guided pilot) function. The scope of NGP will be extended from expressways and highways to urban roads. Apart from NGP, XPILOT 3.5 will also provide functions such as NGP-L (an upgraded version of NGP which can be helpful on highways) and VPA-L (Valet Parking Assist which enables the vehicle to memorize parking spaces and safely park itself in cross-storey parking situations).

Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. (BHAP) announced that it will exhibit products of its subsidiaries Inalfa Roof Systems Group B.V., Bohai Trimet Automotive Holding GmbH, and Zibo Bohai Piston Co., Ltd. at IAA Mobility 2021. At this exhibition, the company will present a smart roof that combines LiDAR and camera with a self-cleaning function, aluminum alloy die-cast lightweight parts with high NVH performance, and pistons using the new material BH137 and having lightweight design.
