On April 17, Hyundai introduced its all-new eighth-generation 2020 Sonata at the New York International Auto Show.
Based on Hyundai’s innovative third-generation vehicle platform, production of the 2020 Sonata starts in September 2019 at the company’s plant in Montgomery, Alabama, and retail sales begin in October.
The 2020 Sonata represents Hyundai’s new focus on creating emotional value using technology, proportion, and styling that includes a chrome strip with graduated LED Daytime Running Lights embedded with Hidden Lighting Lamps.
Customers can choose between a 2.5-liter GDI engine that produces 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque, and a 1.6-liter turbocharged T-GDI engine that produces 180 hp pand 195 lb-ft of torque, both mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2020 Sonata is equipped with Hyundai’s latest SmartSense advanced driver assistance systems that use three radar sensors, 12 ultrasonic sensors and five cameras to support standard Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Advanced Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go features and optional Highway Driving Assist.
The 2020 Sonata supports Hyundai’s Digital Key, which utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, via a dedicated smartphone app.

HELLA announced it intends to work together with BHAP and the US battery specialist Farasis in the field of battery management systems. The focus of the cooperation is in particular on the development, production and distribution of battery management systems for 12- and 48-Volt vehicle electrical systems as well as high-voltage applications. While HELLA will contribute its own expertise in hardware and software development to the cooperation, Farasis will bring in its know-how in the field of battery cell production and BHAP will ensure market access, especially within the BAIC Group. The cooperation will focus on meeting demand in the Chinese market.  HELLA also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Wuling Automotive Industry. Both partners intend to work together on automotive lighting technologies for the Chinese market, with a particular focus on the development of headlamps for the volume segment. The cooperation will be further substantiated in the coming months and shall especially supply the Chinese automobile manufacturer SAIC General Motors Wuling Automobile. On April 9, Mercedes-Benz announced that is presenting the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the GLC Coupé and the EQC Edition 1886, as well as the updated Performance models of the GLC SUV and Coupé from Affalterbach at the 2019 New York International Auto Show.
Also on display for the first time are the CLA 35 4MATIC and the A 35 4MATIC Saloon.
The new GLS SUV has increased spaciousness, especially in the second seat row, resulting from a 60 mm longer wheelbase.
The revised Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé is celebrating a further SUV world premiere, with distinctive appearance, innovative driving assistance systems, a new engine line-up and the latest generation of the MBUX Mercedes-Benz User Experience multimedia system.
With the world premiere of the EQC Edition 1886, Mercedes-Benz is signaling its systematic entry into the era of e-mobility.
The updated SUV and Coupé Performance models of the GLC from Affalterbach are also celebrating their world premieres, featuring the MBUX infotainment system, AMG-specific radiator grilles, and restyled flatter LED headlamps.
The new CLA 35 4MATIC features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, 7-speed dual clutch transmission and exciting design.
The Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC Saloon has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G dual clutch transmission, and variable AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
