On March 21, Hyundai Motors India launched the Hyundai Verna for a starting price of INR 1.09 million (1.5 L gasoline engine) and going to INR 1.74 million (Turbo). The sedan comes with a 1.5 l MPi gasoline engine with a capacity of 1,497 cc which produces a power of 84.4 kW at 6,300 rpm and maximum torque of 143.8 Nm at 4,500 rpm while the 1.5 GdI turbo 1,482 cc engine produces a maximum power of 117.5 kW at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 253 nm at 1,500~3,500 rpm. The sedan can offer a fuel efficiency of 18.6 kmpl ~20.6 kmpl.
The new Verna comes with 17 Hyundai Smart Sense – level 2 ADAS features which include automated sensing technology with radars, sensors, and cameras, forward collision warning, forward collision-avoidance assist-car, smart cruise control with stop and go, rear cross-traffic collision warning, etc. It is further equipped with 65 advanced safety features, including 6 airbags, hill start assists control (HAC), EPB (electric parking brake), ECM (electrochromic mirror), cornering lamps, etc.
