On September 15, Valeo announced that it will showcase its technologies dedicated to the transportation of goods and people at IAA Transportation. Together, these technologies have generated a 50% increase in orders for Valeo compared to four years ago at the previous edition of this European trade event.
The products on show will range from high power to low voltage, including, the brand new 800V SiC (silicon carbide) inverter, 400V, and 800V eAxles, which are the units placed in the middle of the vehicle axle, housing the electric motor, the transmission, and power electronics; 48V hybrid systems for vans; and Valeo Cyclee technology, for the bicycle industry.
Valeo will present its battery thermal control, climate control, and heat pump technologies, including the Valeo REVO-E HP R744, a heating, and cooling system for electric buses. It will also present Valeo FlexHeater, a low-energy intelligent interior surface heating system for electric trucks, DMS (Driver Monitoring System), LED lighting systems for trucks, etc.

On September 15, Bosch announced that it is now mass-producing a new drive unit consisting of an electric motor plus an integrated inverter for small trucks. The inverter controls the electric motor and establishes the connection to the high-voltage battery. Compared to its predecessors, the new drive unit offers even higher power and torque density. Motor and inverter together weigh around 80 kilograms. Bosch has reduced electrical losses by more than 20% with new semiconductors, which enables an inverter efficiency of 97% and thus increases the range. The drive module can also be integrated even more easily into existing and new vehicle models.
The electric drive is being used for the first time at the customer Daimler Truck. The maximum output is 129 kilowatts. The permanently excited synchronous machine can generate a torque of 430 Nm. It has a vehicle weight of 8.5 tons, this ensures superior driving performance in every situation. Bosch derived the design of the electric motor and inverter from passenger car technology.  The water-cooling circuit has been merged with that of the battery. There is no need for an oil-based cooling circuit. Compared to the previous engine, a single-speed gearbox is sufficient due to the higher speed. The smaller size of the drive allows for a battery that now consists of one piece.  The software is largely responsible for the behavior of the electric drive and can be customized.

On September 9, Nissan Australia announced an innovative, industry-first Circular Economy project in Victoria, with the Nissan Casting Australia Plant (NCAP) to use recycled LEAF batteries to power part of its production facility.
The NCAP Battery Project, called Nissan Node, will see a new solar array installed at Nissan Casting Australia, as well as new EV chargers. It will include the installation of a new Battery Energy Storage System made of nine repurposed Gen 1 Nissan LEAF batteries, which will be charged via the solar array. The project is estimated to reduce Nissan Casting Australia’s annual CO2 emissions by 259 tons while saving 128 megawatts of energy every year.
The Node Project is being completed in partnership with an innovative Melbourne-based company, Relectrify. Relectrify is the developer of ground-breaking battery management and inverter technology. Relectrify’s ReVolve Battery Energy Storage System is installed at the NCAP and is a first-of-its-kind product built from end-of-life LEAF batteries.
Similar projects are already underway around the world, including a trial with the East Japan Railway Company which uses second-life LEAF batteries to power railway crossings, and with the 4R Energy Corp in Japan, which is developing the technology and infrastructure to recycle, resell and reuse the batteries in Nissan EVs as a power storage solution.
