On October 13, Marquardt announced that its production-ready drive authorization system PnD3 combines the latest ultra-wideband technology (UWB) with NFC (Near Field Communication) or BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). This seamlessly closes the gap between the smartphone and the driver authorization system. The first manufacturer vehicles with the new PnD3 system will be delivered in 2022. The flexible PnD3 architecture enables a modular scope from simple to highly complex applications, both for cars and commercial vehicles. With this, Marquardt is making keyless go technology via mobile phone affordable and suitable for the masses.
With the Software Development Kit (SDK), unlimited smartphone applications can be adapted to the design of the vehicle manufacturer.  Marquardt offers the central, easily integrated control unit (ECU) in a scalable, compact design and as a waterproof variant, especially for commercial vehicles. Other components in interaction are immobilizers, sensors for door handles or loading flaps in e-vehicles. Security against hacker attacks was a priority in the development of the PnD3 platform. The core is the new ultra-wideband technology based on the Car Connectivity Consortium Standard, which has been supported by Apple and other smartphone manufacturers since 2019.
