On August 23, BASF introduced a new grade of its established Ultradur polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), which enables more attractive branding on metallic lamp bezel surfaces of automotive headlamps. The new grade was developed to meet the growing demand by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for an improved brand image of headlamps. The new laser transmittance PBT unreinforced grade Ultradur 4570 HGL LT enables laser engraving on metallic lamp bezel surfaces. This provides clearer and high-quality logo markings on automotive headlamps. In particular, the new grade helps customers avoid degradation on black lamp bezel surfaces during the laser marking process and maintain a high glossy surface finish, good processability, as well as low fogging and mould deposit.

Hella announced that it is now launching new full-LED rear lamp for trucks and trailers. Hella offers the rear lamp as a modular concept. The full-LED rear lamp is designed for the voltage range of 24 volts. The two-colour outer lens is made of impact-resistant polycarbonate (PC) and bonded to the housing. Overall, the rear lamp achieves protection class IP 6K9K, which means that it is not only dustproof but also resistant to cleaning with water under high pressure. The lamp also complies with the automotive standard (ISO 26262). Hella has also further developed, in-house, the light curtain technology. The result is a much more homogeneous appearance of the tail light as it does not require separate optics. At 144 square centimeters, the light curtain is also almost twice as large as in previous models – so the tail light is always visible, even at dusk or in fog, and even from a distance. Thanks to mechanical interfaces for sensor technology, ultrasonic sensors can be connected on both sides. In addition, the control for the flashing side marker lamps, the direction indicator failure control and the load simulation designed to monitor the stop and direction indicator lights are all integrated into the system. On March 17, Toyota Europe announced that it has unveiled Aygo X prologue - A new vision for the A-Segment.
Aygo X prologue was designed by ED2. The Aygo name has always symbolised personal freedom and mobility. With the Aygo X prologue, an additional cheeky mischievousness is added to the mix. It’s just as fun, and it’s now got an added edginess to it. From every angle, it expresses its attitude, with a strong personality and an even stronger stance. By bumping up the size of the wheels, the driver enjoys a higher eye point for greater visibility, as well as improved clearance for whatever the road may bring.
Whether from front, rear or side, the mischievousness of Aygo X prologue stands out. A bold bi-tone execution creates a unique graphic profile that grabs attention in the street by emphasizing the car’s readiness to leap forward into action. A new wedged roofline also increases the dynamic feeling for a more aggressive sporty image. While at the front, high-tech lamps hug the upper hood to form a wing-like shape. Lower to the ground, the large grille, fog lamps and skid-plate, all building on the hexagon theme, show that this is a car ready to go. Anywhere.
Practical and ready for tomorrow’s free spirits, Aygo X prologue also offers the features that will further enrich their freedom. A rear skid plate houses a bicycle-holder mount, so that escaping the everyday can always be turned into an adventure. Meanwhile, housed in the door mirror is an action-camera, perfect for capturing and sharing moments of exploration.
Finally, an integrated roof rack accentuates the vehicle’s profile, as well as creating a visual link with the hexagon tail lamps, a subtle reminder of the Aygo DNA.
