On March 28, Maruti Suzuki announced the introduction of a new 1.5-litre DDiS 225 diesel engine in new Ciaz. Developed in-house, the new powertrain delivers enhanced performance, with a peak torque of 225 Nm and maximum power of 70 kW.
The 1.5-litre DDiS 225 diesel engine comes with a high efficiency turbo charger which generates higher low-end torque through optimization. The use of a Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF) along with optimized compression ratio reduces engine fluctuations and contributes to superior NVH performance, thereby giving a comfortable driving experience.
Use of light-weight aluminium casted cylinder head and block along with optimized engine calibration contributes to improved fuel efficiency. A newly designed 6-speed transmission, mated to the DDiS 225 engine completes the powertrain package.
With the addition of this new powerful engine, the new Ciaz will now be available with 1.5-litre capacity in both petrol (K15 with Next-Gen Smart Hybrid) and diesel (DDiS 225) powertrain options.

On December 17, Force Motors introduced the Gurkha Xtreme. It is powered by the Mercedes OM 611 derived common rail engine developing 140 hp and 321 Nm torque with dual mass flywheel that ensures excellent drivability and low NVH.
The Gurkha Xtreme also comes with a new transfer case and a new live rigid axle in the front. It also has provision to fit hub locks on the front axles that helps saving fuel as well as reducing stress on the drivetrain while in 2WD.
The Gurkha Xtreme has high strength C-in-C chassis and is the only vehicle in this class which has live rigid front axles with coil spring suspension. It is also the only vehicle that comes with differential locks on both front and rear axles to come out of sticky situations, and air intake snorkel for deep water wading.

On September 13, Nissan informed that Nissan Qashqai is now available with upgraded 1.5-litre diesel engine.
The enhanced 115 PS unit offers drivers a 5 PS increase in power over the 110 PS of the previous generation. Torque remains the same at 260 Nm, though the engine now features an all-new overboost function. This delivers an extra 5 PS and 25 Nm of torque for up to 15 seconds of driving.
Also new is Selective Catalytic Reduction technology using AdBlue to reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions. This technology allows the engine to meet the latest Euro 6d-Temp emissions standard while preserving efficiency and performance.
More than 90% of the engine’s components have been modified to deliver these improvements, including the oil cooler module, oil filter, dual mass flywheel, vacuum pump and high-pressure fuel pump.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies available on the Qashqai include ProPILOT, Nissan’s state-of-the-art driving assistance system.
