Sundram Fasteners (SFL), announce that it has been awarded a USD 250 million contract by a leading global automobile manufacturer for the supply of sub-assemblies for its electric vehicle (EV) platform. The company plans to invest INR 2 billion to support the new orders under the six-year-long purchase package involving the supply of shaft sub-assemblies and drive gear sub-assemblies. The company will ship the parts from its powertrain divisions located at Mahindra World City in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, and Sri City in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh. SFL has estimated an annual sales peak of USD 52 million in 2026 with a supply of 1.5 million drive unit sub-assemblies per annum. The sub-assemblies will be used in the EV models like MHEV/PHEV/BEV, covering various segments including mid-size trucks, SUVs, and sedans. The launch of the new vehicles is planned for the North America platform in 2024. (From a press release dated January 17, 2023)
LISI Group (LISI AUTOMOTIVE) announced that its Former plant in Delle is among the 10 winners of the France 2030 call for projects to diversify subcontractors in the automotive industry. The Delle plant has been awarded EUR 916,500. The Delle Transformation project aims to respond to the new type of fasteners for EVs (long and thin screws and addition of a watertight sleeve) by modernizing the machine park, raising the site’s competitiveness (industry 4.0) while respecting the cleanliness requirements demanded by the principals. With all difficulties including the environmental and societal issues and the impact of the health and Russian-Ukrainian crises, as well as the hike in energy costs, the France 2030 investment plan aims to support the crucial needs of companies in the automotive sector for profound transformation.
