On April 23, Maruti Suzuki India Limited introduced the New Alto with enhanced safety features and captivating design. The New Alto now comes with BSVI compliant engine, nearly a year before the regulation being mandated.
The 796 cc BS-VI compliant engine will mean a substantial reduction, (nearly 25%) of Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), in vehicular emission. Maruti Suzuki has upgraded engine hardware and software with technological advancement of exhaust system. Meeting the End of Life Vehicles (ELV) obligations, the New Alto is over 95% recoverable and 85% recyclable.
The New Alto comes with a new infotainment system called Smart Play Dock. The New Alto now comes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution System (EBD). ABS will help to avoid skidding by electronically controlling braking pressure.

On April 16, Continental announced that it has conducted tests of the CO2 savings potential of the MK C1 electrohydraulic brake system in a plug-in hybrid. TÜV confirms in a certified test: MK C1 reduces the amount of CO2 emitted in the WLTP by around 5 g/km on average compared with a conventional hydraulic hybrid brake system. At the end of 2020, It will begin production of the MK C1 in Shanghai for a Chinese customer.
The brake pedal in the MK C1 is usually completely decoupled from pressure generation. Therefore the driver always has a uniform pedal feel. The full use can be made of recuperation phases – saving CO2 as a result
The measurements were taken on a dynamometer test in accordance with the WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicle Test Procedure), the globally valid measurement procedure for determining the exhaust emissions and fuel/electricity consumption of motor vehicles, and were supervised by the TÜV experts present.

On April 22, Maruti Suzuki announced that it will launch new 1.2L DUALJET, DUAL VVT BS-VI engine with next generation Smart Hybrid technology in Baleno. Existing 1.2L VVT petrol engine variants will also be BS-VI compliant and available in all variants including CVT.
Baleno is India’s first premium hatchback to be offered with Smart Hybrid technology. The Lithium-ion battery is compact and designed for long service life. The BS-VI compliant petrol vehicles will lead to a substantial reduction of nearly 25% in Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emissions. BS-VI norms also enforce stringent limit on Non-Methane Hydrocarbons (NMHC) emissions.
In order to achieve this stringent emission regulation requirement, the company has upgraded both engine hardware and software along with exhaust system. The engine control software has been upgraded for more precise fuel injection control using various on-board sensors to ensure cleaner and durable emission control.
