On August 15, Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled its new state-of-the-art INGLO EV platform and five e-SUVs under two EV brands - Iconic brand XUV with the Twin Peak logo in Copper and the all-new electric-only brand called BE. The manifestation of these two brands has been showcased via five e-SUVs: the XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09. The first four of these are to be launched between 2024 and 2026. Common to these SUVs is Mahindra's new Heartcore design philosophy.
The INGLO platform will pack intuitive, intelligent, and immersive innovations that will serve as the backbone of the Mahindra EV architecture. INGLO offers class-leading safety standards, excellent range and efficiency, exemplary driving dynamics, and intelligent HMI. INGLO also delivers a multi-sensorial driving experience with a futuristic, augmented reality-enabled heads-up display, edge-to-edge screen, 5G network capability, and OTA updates.
Mahindra electric vehicles will follow a common battery pack design with lean modules and standardized cell-to-pack technology using two different cutting-edge cell architectures – Blade and Prismatic. Offered with options ranging from 60-80 kW-hr battery capacity, protected for an incredible 175 kW fast-charge and charging up to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
A compact all-in-one electric engine with motor-inverter-transmission integrated into a single unit forms the powertrain, offered with both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, developing 170-210 kW and a whopping 250-290 kW respectively. The powertrain is optimized to offer a class-leading range, with the added advantage of an intelligent electronic brake system that offers best-in-class recuperation potential. Enhanced aerodynamics, reduced rolling resistance with 5.5 RRC tires and sophisticated zero-drag wheel bearings, high-efficiency cooling, and an HVAC system with minimal power consumption and best-in-class low voltage power consumption.
The new Mahindra electric SUVs are designed to meet the highest vehicle safety norms and utmost safety for batteries such as GNCAP. All the e-SUVs will come with a structural cage around the passenger cabin specially designed for reduced passenger injury. The frontal design of the Body-In-White is enhanced with three load paths and a multi-piece dash panel with reinforcement and very importantly-excellent battery protection is ensured by ultra-high-strength boron steel.
The new e-SUVs are tested at the world’s largest battery development and testing center. With 5 Radars-1 Vision ADAS architecture, INGLO is futureproofed up to L2+ autonomy. INGLO leverages the cloud seamlessly by implementing an embedded 5G network capability and keeps vehicles as good as new through "Over the Air" updates (SOTA + FOTA).
XUV.e8 will be launched in December 2024, with a dimension of - L x W x H: 4740 x 1900 x 1760 mm, and a wheelbase of 2762 mm. XUV.e9 will be launched in April 2025, with a dimension of  4790 x 1905 x 1690 mm, and a wheelbase of 2775 mm. BE.05 will be launched in October 2025 with a dimension of 4370 x 1900 x 1635 mm and a wheelbase of 2775 mm. BE.07 will be launched in October 2026, with a dimension of 4565 x 1900 x 1660 mm and a wheelbase of 2775 mm. BE.09 launch date and specifications are not revealed.

On July 21, SKF India announced the establishment of a dedicated two-wheeler Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bangalore.  The CoE will provide innovative and customized solutions to meet the new and emerging requirements of customers and help accelerate sustainable mobility solutions for India and Southeast Asia markets. Located within the global engineering campus in Bangalore, the CoE caters to the Indian two-wheeler and three-wheelers market. It features research labs, along with various cut sections of engines, transmission, and powertrain to focus on devising innovative and tailor-made solutions for OEMs.
The CoE has a dedicated team of highly skilled engineers focused on the 2W applications for driving inspiration and collaboration with customers and delivering solutions with the highest levels of reliability. Currently, the CoE team is working on 14 projects that cut across the full value chain - from product engineering to new technology development to aftermarket. Additionally, the team has filed eight patents for the diverse set of 2W applications with six new patents in the pipeline. Some of the ongoing projects include designing sensor-bearing modules and friction reduction solutions, as well as compact solutions for Wheel ends and other applications that result in vehicle weight reduction.

On June 24, Volvo Group launched its first green castings that will go into building its engines. The green castings from India will include bearing caps and housing for select Volvo engines. The castings being produced in India are certified by the Confederation of Indian Industry – Green Products and Services Council. As per the definition, the manufacturing of Green Casting involves the elimination of toxic chemicals and elements, has zero carbon footprint, uses minimal resources, where products can be recycled and reused, and come with eco-friendly packaging.
These Green Castings, which Brakes India will produce, utilize scrap, alloys, and raw materials which are 100% radioactive elements free. It involves recycling 100% metallic scrap generated by other industries to manufacture a usable product. The plant will operate on 100% green power from solar and wind energy. When fully adopted, the potential reduction in CO2 per year due to Green Castings would amount to 0.86 million tons for Volvo and 210 million tons for the industry. Commercial Production of these green castings will start this month.
