Brose announced that it will invest more than EUR 300 million in China for new products and new technical equipment within the next 3 years. At Auto Shanghai, Brose will be presenting a 14-way adjustable power seat structure, which was developed in China for the local market. Starting in 2020, Brose will supply this product for certain conventional and new energy vehicles manufactured by a renowned local carmaker. Brose will showcase the intelligent interaction between its door and seat functions in a near-series concept car. Brose has developed a cross-product modular motor and electronics system with standardized components. It enables the automotive supplier to react to a range of demands and meet a variety of electrical systems architecture requirements ranging from 12 to 810 Volts so they can be used in conventional, hybrid and electric cars alike. Brose’s extended lightweight door module made from organo sheet (glass-fabric-reinforced thermoplastics) is large enough to nearly cover the whole interior door metal plate. This reduces the weight of the vehicle by up to 9 kilograms. (From press release on April 16, 2019)

On April 15, KAMAZ informed that PJSC KAMAZ and JSC RUSNANO signed an agreement on strategic partnership in the design and manufacture of advanced batteries for electric vehicles and outdoor equipment based on lithium-ion batteries. The document creates the basis for the implementation of joint projects for the development of electric transport in Russia and energy storage systems based on lithium-ion batteries.
The signed agreement provides KAMAZ with exclusive conditions for the purchase of lithium-ion batteries produced by one from the portfolio companies of RUSNANO JSC. The scope of supply of lithium-ion batteries to the assembly enterprises and enterprises for the production of KAMAZ’s automotive components will be determined on the basis of the customer’s needs.
The partners also plan to develop, test and launch mass production energy-efficient battery cells, modules and traction batteries designed for electric buses of various types and other types of electric transport.

South Korea’s Dreamtech is now supplying its fingerprint sensor modules for a Chinese model of the Hyundai Santa Fe, which was released in April 2019. Dreamtech’s fingerprint sensors are used for door handles and an engine-start button to make sure that the car opens or closes the doors and start or stop the engine only when the driver is a pre-registered user of the system. When the vehicle is started using this smart fingerprint recognition system, the car will automatically adjust the settings, such as seat positioning, mirror angles, handle height, and room temperature, to meet the requirement of each driver. Dreamtech is currently developing next-generation ultrasonic or optical modules as an addition to the current electrostatic products. (From some releases on April 15, 2019)
