On November 14, Toyota unveiled the Camry TRD and Avalon TRD, with aero-enhanced styling by Calty, Toyota’s U.S. design studio, and chassis performance fortified by Toyota Racing Development (TRD).
The Camry TRD and Avalon TRD, both with greater track-inspired handling performance and styling, include all standard content from the Camry SE grade and Avalon XSE grade, combined with exclusive TRD chassis enhancements and tuning.
Both the 2020 Camry TRD and 2020 Avalon TRD are powered by a 301hp DOHC 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to an 8-speed transmission with sport mode and paddle shifters, and will be available in fall 2019.
TRD engineers included thicker underbody braces, unique coil springs, specially tuned shock absorbers, 19 x 8.5 inch matte black alloy wheels, and 12.9-inch diameter rotors and dual-piston calipers in the brake system.
Both models will come standard with Toyota Safety Sense-P, a suite of advanced driver-assist technologies, including Pre-Collision Braking.

Meritor announced that optional hydraulic actuation is available on all ELSA disc brakes for applications requiring hydraulic disc brake variants. The mechanical, pneumatically operated brake housing of the current range is replaced by a hydraulic single or twin piston variant. The bridge, carrier and slide pin arrangements remain common for pneumatic and hydraulic variants. Pads can also be common and will be available in pad areas from 107-226 square centimeters. The new option covers brakes for wheels between 17.5 and 25 inches. Rotor diameter varies from 324 mm to 500 mm. (From a press release on September 19, 2018)
