On July 31, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles revealed the first images and details of the successor to the Caddy Beach. The new Mini-Camper is based on the all-new fifth generation Caddy and boasts a host of new features. One example is the entirely new bed concept that has been redeveloped to offer greater versatility. Technology in the compact camper van is definitely state-of-the-art. And a touch of romance is also included, with the panoramic glass roof offering a night under the stars.
One of the new highlights is the opportunity to gaze at the stars through the panoramic glass roof before dozing off. Cleverly stowed in the rear are the popular and lightweight camping chairs and table from the California models. The two practical storage bags can be taken inside the home for easy loading.
The new Caddy features 19 driver-assistance systems for comfort and safety while travelling. Included among them is Travel Assist, which for the first time ever enables assisted driving in a Volkswagen commercial vehicle over the entire range of speeds. Also new in the Caddy and familiar from the Crafter and the T series are Trailer Assist, which makes reverse maneuvering with a trailer significantly easier, as well as Side-Assist and Rear Traffic Alert.
Like the driver assistance systems, the Caddy’s new four-cylinder engines are also innovative. They are from the next stage of engine evolution, fulfill the 2021 Euro 6 emissions standards and are all fitted with diesel particulate filters. Also being used for the first time in the TDI units - which have power outputs between 55kW / 75 PS and 90 kW / 122 PS - is the new twin dosing system. Via two SCR catalytic converters and hence double AdBlue injection, the nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission levels are significantly reduced in comparison to the previous model, making the Caddy’s TDI engines among the cleanest diesel engines in the world. Also efficient and sustainable are a turbocharged gasoline engine (TSI) delivering 84 kW / 116 PS.
The world premiere of the new compact camper is set to take place virtually at the beginning of September.

On July 15, Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), launched its all new fifth generation Honda City in India. It is India’s first connected car with “Alexa Remote Capability”. It boasts of the largest in segment dimensions including 4,549 mm length and 1,748 mm width. The height of the new model stands at 1,489 mm and wheelbase is 2,600 mm. The City’s “Advanced Compatibility Engineering” (ACE) body enhances self-protection while mitigating damage to other vehicles in the event of a collision.
The gasoline variant is powered by new 1.5L i-VTEC DOHC petrol (gasoline) engine with VTC, which is Honda’s first in India.  Based on the high accuracy valve technology DOHC + VTC, this newly introduced BS-VI engine improves combustion efficiency, reduces friction and lowers emissions. It delivers 89 kw (121 PS) power and 145 Nm torque. It has been mated to an all-new 6 speed manual transmission and new 7 speed CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) offering fuel efficiency of 17.8 kmpl and 18.4 kmpl respectively.
The diesel variant is powered by new 1.5L i-DTEC DOHC diesel engine mated to the 6-speed manual transmission. It delivers peak 200 Nm torque and impressive fuel economy of 24.1 kmpl. Application of advanced exhaust gas after-treatment system with NSC (NOx Storage Catalyst) and DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) has been done to meet the challenging target of particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission in case of diesel engines.
HCIL will start deliveries of the gasoline variants of the new City immediately from the HCIL dealer network across the country. The deliveries for the diesel variants will begin from August 2020.
