On April 12, Nissan unveiled its all-new 2020 Versa sedan ahead of its U.S. market launch in summer 2019.
The third-generation Versa offers a new level of refinement with a design that features lower, wider and longer exterior dimensions while retaining the Versa's roomy interior.
The 2020 Versa features a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 122 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque paired with an enhanced Xtronic CVT or a 5-speed manual transmission.
Standard safety features include Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning and High Beam Assist.
Also available is Nissan Safety Shield 360 that provides front, side and rear safety monitoring and intervention technologies, and Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Driver Alertness and Intelligent Cruise Control.
Nissan points out that that along with its other sedans, the all-new Versa will serve the more than five million customers who buy sedans annually in the U.S., and that sedans remain a popular choice for Gen X, Millennials and multicultural customers.
Nissan spokespersons have recently said that starting with the introduction of the redesigned 2020 model, so the Versa will only be offered as a sedan.
Sales of the hatchback Versa Note in North America will end after the 2019 model year.
The combined Versa lineup sold 75,809 units in 2018, a decrease of 29% from 2017.

On April 15, Volkswagen of America announced plans to show the Tarok pickup concept for the first time in the U.S. at the 2019 New York International Auto Show.
The Tarok was first seen at the Sao Paolo International Motor Show in Brazil at the end of 2018 and is expected to enter production for the South American market in the near future.
While there are currently no plans to produce the vehicle for the U.S. market, the Tarok concept is being shown in New York to gauge market reaction for the vehicle.
Based on the MQB platform, the Tarok measures 193.5 inches long, 72 inches wide and 66 inches high, with a wheelbase of 117.7 inches.
The Tarok concept’s floor space can be enlarged not only by opening the tailgate, but also using a newly developed mechanism for folding down the bottom of the passenger cabin’s rear panel, allowing it to carry loads up to 73.2 inches long.
The bed length of 47.5 inches with the tailgate in place can be extended an additional 27.4 inches by dropping the tailgate, and a further 25.8 inches by opening the door to the cabin and folding the rear seat.
The width of the load area between the wheel arches is 42.9 inches.
The Tarok Concept is powered by a 1.4-liter, 147 hp four-cylinder turbocharged TSI engine, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and permanent 4Motion all-wheel drive.

On April 9, Mercedes-Benz announced that is presenting the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the GLC Coupé and the EQC Edition 1886, as well as the updated Performance models of the GLC SUV and Coupé from Affalterbach at the 2019 New York International Auto Show.
Also on display for the first time are the CLA 35 4MATIC and the A 35 4MATIC Saloon.
The new GLS SUV has increased spaciousness, especially in the second seat row, resulting from a 60 mm longer wheelbase.
The revised Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé is celebrating a further SUV world premiere, with distinctive appearance, innovative driving assistance systems, a new engine line-up and the latest generation of the MBUX Mercedes-Benz User Experience multimedia system.
With the world premiere of the EQC Edition 1886, Mercedes-Benz is signaling its systematic entry into the era of e-mobility.
The updated SUV and Coupé Performance models of the GLC from Affalterbach are also celebrating their world premieres, featuring the MBUX infotainment system, AMG-specific radiator grilles, and restyled flatter LED headlamps.
The new CLA 35 4MATIC features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, 7-speed dual clutch transmission and exciting design.
The Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC Saloon has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G dual clutch transmission, and variable AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
