On January 25, the BMW Group announced the new BMW M3 CS. It will be produced in a limited edition at the BMW Group plant in Munich from March 2023. Its market launch will start flowing in March 2023. The most important sales regions for the new special model are the USA, Germany, Great Britain, and Japan.
The drive concept of the new BMW M3 CS includes a 405 kW/550 hp straight 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, and the intelligent all-wheel drive system M xDrive. Its crankcase features a linerless, closed-deck design, is extremely rigid, and is therefore designed for a particularly high combustion pressure. Its cylinder head core is manufactured using a 3D printing process. A model-specific engine mount with a higher spring rate ensures a particularly tight connection between the drive unit and the vehicle structure.
In addition to the basic 4WD setting, the driver can use the M Setup menu to select the 4WD Sport mode, in which an even higher proportion of the drive torque is sent to the rear wheels. When the driving stability control DSC is deactivated, the 2WD mode is also available.
The standard equipment of the special model includes an M compound brake system with either red or black painted brake calipers. An M carbon ceramic brake system is available as an option. Intelligent lightweight construction with a large number of components made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), increased engine performance, and model-specific chassis tuning. The M-specific operating system includes the setup button on the center console. It allows direct access to the setting options for the engine, chassis, steering, braking system, and M xDrive.
The latest-generation BMW iDrive vehicle experience based on BMW Operating System 8 includes the BMW Curved Display in the cockpit of the new BMW M3 CS. It consists of a 12.3-inch information display and a control display with a screen diagonal of 14.9 inches under a common curved glass surface.
