On March 10, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India launched the OBD2B compliant 2023 H’ness CB350 at a starting price of INR 209,857 and the 2023 CB350RS priced starting at INR 214,856 (ex-showroom Delhi). The CB350 comes with a 350cc, air-cooled 4-stroke OHC single-cylinder OBD2B compliant engine equipped with PGM-FI technology and delivers a max torque of 30 Nm at 3,000 rpm.
The CB350 exhaust system carries a large tailpipe of 45mm to optimize balance for producing a bold low-pitched sound. The engine uses an offset cylinder position that reduces the sliding friction and the asymmetrical connecting rod ensures minimum energy loss while combustion. It comes with features like Honda selectable torque control (HSTC), smartphone voice control system (HSVCS), Advanced Digital-analogue Meter, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Dual channel ABS, Engine Start/Stop Switch, etc.

On January 20, General Motors announced plans to invest USD 918 million in four U.S. manufacturing sites, including USD 854 million to prepare these facilities to produce the company’s sixth-generation Small Block V8 engine, details of which will be announced at a later time, and USD 64 million for castings and components to support EV production.
• Flint Engine Operations in Michigan – GM will invest USD 579 million to prepare the plant to assemble GM’s sixth generation family of Small Block V8 gas engines along with related block, crank and head machining, while the plant continues to build the Duramax 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine during renovations.
• Bay City GPS in Michigan – GM will invest USD 216 million to prepare the facility to build camshafts, connecting rods and block/head machining for future V8 production at Flint Engine Operations.
• Defiance Operations in Ohio – GM will invest a total of USD 55 million, including USD 47 million to prepare the facility to build a variety of block castings for future V8 engine programs, and USD 8 million to build a casting development cell for EV castings.
• Rochester Operations in New York – GM will invest a total of USD 68 million, with USD 12 million to prepare the facility to build intake manifolds and fuel rails for future V8 production in Flint, and USD 56 million for the production of battery pack cooling lines for EVs.
Aichi Steel Corporation (Aichi Steel) announced that its U.S. subsidiary, Aichi Forge USA, Inc. (AFU), has introduced a connecting rod production line and begun operation. The connecting rods manufactured there will be supplied to Toyota Motor Corporation’s plants in North America for models such as the Camry, Highlander, RAV4, and Lexus ES. The company sees the annual sales of USD 170 million. AFU is the only Toyota group forging plant in North America. (From a press release dated July 6, 2022)
