On April 19, 2021, Lexus unveiled a face-lifted ES large luxury executive sedan and the all-new LF-Z electric concept car at the Auto Shanghai 2021.
The LF-Z electric concept car was developed based on a new battery electric vehicle platform and delivers driving experience according to the Lexus Driving Signature standard (defined by linear vehicle operation faithful to a driver’s intentions, providing seamless connection between acceleration, deceleration, and steering in any driving situation). The vehicle reflects the Lexus Electrified vision with its advanced technologies and design concepts.
The face-lifted ES sedan provides improved quietness and ride comfort. In the front, the vehicle has a grille with a mesh pattern consisting of multiple L-shaped components, and LED headlights with a BladeScan Adaptive High-beam System (AHS). Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with 17-inch or 18-inch wheels, with the F SPORT version carrying exclusive 19-inch glossy black wheels, a black front grille and an Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system.
In addition, the face-lifted ES sedan has a significant improvement in braking performance. For gasoline versions, the idle stroke of the brake pedal was reduced by improving the internal structures of the master cylinder and booster. For hybrid versions, brake controllability was improved by changing the control constants of the electronically controlled braking system.
The face-lifted ES sedan also includes the latest Lexus Safety System + (LSS+).
Moreover, Lexus announced its carbon neutrality vision at its booth. The brand plans to offer an electrified version for all models by 2025, at the time of which sales of electric models are expected to exceed sales of gasoline models. Lexus aims to realize the goal of carbon neutrality in 2050 by catering to a vehicle’s entire lifecycle, which will range from raw materials and components to production, logistics and recycling of vehicles.
