Schaeffler informed that during fiscal year 2018, it has invested INR 2.4 billion in India. These investments are for expanding plant buildings at Talegaon & Savli, and increasing the company’s engineering capabilities. This will help it increase production capacities at all plant sites, allowing to address home market requirements with swiftness and precision, while creating flexibility. The Savli unit has been successfully producing Low Friction Ball bearings which besides reducing noise levels also reduce friction significantly. Talegaon unit manufactures engine components for internal combustion engines (ICE) that are helping OEMs to meet emission norms. (From Schaeffler India annual report 2018)

On April 1, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced it would open a new safety defect investigation into three million Hyundai and Kia vehicles for fires not caused by crashes.
The investigation is in response to a petition by the Center for Auto Safety, which since 2007 has been investigating some Hyundai and Kia vehicles for fire risks.
The latest probes cover the 2011-2014 Hyundai Sonata and Santa Fe, 2011-2014 Kia Optima and Sorento, and 2010-2015 Kia Soul.
Engine failure and fire problems with Hyundai and Kia vehicles have affected more than 6 million vehicles since 2015, with the two companies recalling approximately 2.4 million vehicles to fix problems that can cause fires and engine failures.
One death was reported involving a Kia vehicle.
Most of the engine failure recalls involve Hyundai’s 2.4-liter and 2-liter Theta II four-cylinder engines, in which debris left from manufacturing can clog a port and cut off oil flow, causing the connecting rod bearings to fail and damaging the engine block and causing oil to leak and catch fire.
Separate from its latest announcement, on March 29 NHTSA announced a recall of approximately 20,000 Hyundai Veloster cars with 1.6-liter engines in the U.S. and Canada because fuel can prematurely ignite in the cylinders around the pistons, which can cause excessive pressure and damage the engine, causing vehicles to stall and in some cases catch fire.

On April 3, Citroën announced that it will introduce a range of new models with an international scope in Indian market. The first of them will be launched by the end of 2021. In addition, the Brand will launch its New C5 Aircross SUV there from 2020.
Citroën will release a range of new models with an international scope for the first time in India, the first of which will be launched by the end of 2021. Fully in line with the framework of the PSA Group’s Core Model Strategy, these new models will follow its principles with, in particular, one launch per year.
Called ‘C Cubed’, the programme is in line with Citroën’s positioning, with three Cs for: Cool: referring to the design of the models, bearing Citroën’s unique character, Comfort: feature of the Citroën experience via well-being on board and ease of use for all occupants and Clever: with reference to the intelligent conception and the high level of local integration in order to perfectly meet the core of the market’s needs.
Besides it,  there will be a price positioning at the heart of the market in India, using a strategy with a high level of local integration (over 90%) based on the two joint venture agreements between the PSA Group and the companies of the CK Birla Group (car assembly & distribution, and production of power trains).
