Huf presented a new member of the modern door handle family, which has been further developed based on customer feedback. The flush door handle with rotary opening function is lighter and, thanks to its reduced installation depth, can be integrated into almost all vehicle doors. The flush door handle is the ideal companion for electric cars and contributes to the goal of reducing energy consumption. In addition, the flush door handle underlines the special appearance of modern electric cars with a unique experience when entering the vehicle. It has an icebreaker function in common, which enables reliable entry at temperatures down to minus 40 degrees and icing. The hidden lock cylinder for emergency opening of the vehicle can be integrated on request. The door handle also optionally has an integrated NFC antenna for opening by holding up the smartphone. Hella announced that it will be presenting a wide range of innovative lighting and electronics solutions for the mobility of the future at the IAA Mobility 2021. It will display various solutions for effective and efficient energy and thermal management in Munich. These include, in particular, high-voltage battery management systems. Their modular, scalable design also enables integration into the drive electronics independently of the cell technology used. It will present new digital lighting technologies at the trade fair that open up a wide range of design and comfort options and take customer experience to a new level. For example, the chip-based headlamp technology "Solid State Lighting | High Definition" (SSL|HD) ensures greater safety and comfort in road traffic. It will also present the new combination rear lamp concept FlatLight. With it, Hella is significantly changing the design of future light signatures.  The next generation of 77 GHz radar sensor technology for assisted or automated driving is characterized in particular by the use of the latest antenna and chip technology. The Smart Car Access System from Hella also ensures greater safety and convenience. End users can use this access system to open, close and start the engine of their vehicle completely hands-free without a classic radio key. (From a press release on September 3, 2021)

On August 31, Porsche announced that it has installed 5G standalone network in cooperation with Vodafone at Weissach Development Centre. Two mobile communications stations and several antennae provide fast network coverage for the entire premises. The next stage is to expand 5G to the facility’s indoor areas.
5G technology will ensure the secure and instantaneous transmission of data between car, human and machine. The real-time capability provided by 5G and multi-access edge computing (MEC) are essential prerequisites for the development of future pre-emptive warning and assistance systems – as well as automated driving functions that require the exchange of safety-relevant data between vehicles.
In addition, the 5G standalone network will enable network slicing technology, which is vital for the automotive industry. With slicing technology Vodafone and Porsche can provide small sub-networks with guaranteed bandwidths and latency times for certain events and projects at the Development Centre.
Porsche is conducting a feasibility study together with HERE and Vodafone to examine the safety potential of this approach.
