Indian new vehicle sales increased by 15.4% in August, 2017

Indian new vehicle sales in August 2017 were up 15.4% y/y to 359,645 units versus 311,738 units in August 2016.
PVs (passenger vehicle, UV and van) sales were up 13.8% to 294,335 units. CVs (M&HCVs and LCVs) sales were up 23.2% to 65,310 units.
By vehicle type, passenger vehicle sales were up 11.8% to 198,811 units versus 177,829 units in the year previous. Utility vehicle (UVs) sales were also up 19.6% to 78,664 units. Vans sales were up 11.3% to 16,860 units.
Medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) sales were up 28.4% to 26,376 units. Light commercial vehicle (LCVs) sales were up 19.9% to 38,934 units.
Among automakers, Maruti-Suzuki was up 26.7% and Hyundai was up 9.0%. Tata Motors was up 25.9% and Mahindra sales were up 10.5% in August 2017.
