German car sales fall 3.5% in June

On June 4, the Germany Federal Motor Vehicle Office (KBA) announced that there were 327,693 new passenger car registrations in June, an 3.5% decrease from the same month last year.
Volkswagen brand sales of 60,555 units (18.5% market share) decreased 5.0% in June compared to the same month in 2016.
Mercedes sales of 31,394 units (9.6% share) decreased 1.2% from last year.
Audi sales of 25,153 units (7.7% share) decreased 9.4% in June.
Opel sales of 23,283 units (7.1% share) decreased 9.3% from last year.
BMW sales of 22,713 units (6.9% share) decreased 17.8% from the same month last year.
Ford sales of 22,398 units (6.8% share) increased 9.3% in June.
Sales of 27,691 trucks in June represented a decrease of 5.6% from the previous year’s results, while sales of 547 buses represented an decrease of 6.5%.
In June, gasoline-powered vehicles accounted for a 55.8% market share, diesel vehicles had a 41.3% market share.
The VDA announced that monthly passenger car exports of 369,500 units had decreased 11% and domestic production of 493,300 units had decreased 12% from last June.
