Spanish car sales increase 11.2% in May, up 7.3% in first five months

On June 1, the automobile manufacturers association of Spain (ANFAC) announced that passenger car registrations of 126,411 units in May 2017 represented an increase of 11.2% over May 2016.
Passenger car sales of 535,697 units in the first five months of the year represented a 7.3% increase from the same period in 2016.
Opel sales decreased 1.6% to 10,391 units, Volkswagen brand sales increased 22.6% to 9,984 units, Renault sales decreased 2.1% to 9,717 units, Peugeot sales increased 8.4% to 8,503 units, and SEAT sales increased 5.1% to 8,365 units in May 2017.
The best-selling cars in May, in order of popularity, were the Citroen C4, SEAT Leon, VW Polo, Opel Corsa, and Renault Megane.
Of all vehicles sold in May, diesel vehicles had a 49.0% market share, gasoline vehicles had a 46.4% share, and hybrid car (HV) and electric vehicles (EV) combined had a 4.6% share.
