On January 25, JAC Motors began presales of its iE40, which it promotes as the least expensive electric vehicle in Brazil.
The first iE40 units will arrive in June at a price of BRL 139,990, which is BRL 10,000 more expensive than previously announced.
Based on the T40, the iEV 40 (previously known as the E40) is equipped with an electric motor that produces 115 hp and 27.5 kgfm of torque that JAC says can travel 300 km on a single charge and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds.
Renault has already begun presales of the Zoe for BRL 149,999 with deliveries to begin in February, and Nissan has opened Leaf presales at BRL 178,000.
Chevrolet has also announced the Bolt will arrive in Brazil in 2019.
For 2019, Brazil also expects the arrival of the Audi e-tron, Kia Soul EV, and Hyundai Ioniq, although release dates are not yet known.

On October 2, Hyundai Motor announced that it is presenting its newest product portfolio and technology initiatives in the fields of assurance, progress and performance at 2018 Paris Motor Show.
The all-new i30 Fastback N has its world premiere at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. It is Hyundai’s second high-performance model in Europe and combines sophisticated and elegant design with the proven N fun-to-drive factor. The first five-door hot coupe in the C-segment carries the trademark characteristics of the successful i30 N five-door hatchback, integrated into the unique coupe body style of the i30 Fastback.
Another world premiere highlight at the booth is the newly-unveiled i30 ‘N Option’ show car, presenting a possible outlook on high-quality exterior and interior individualisation options. It extends the offer for customers who want to spice up their i30 with more style and performance.
Hyundai’s eco-car line-up at the Paris Motor Show, including the All-New Kona Electric and NEXO, as well as the IONIQ, demonstrates the company’s pioneering spirit in the field of future mobility.
Celebrating its debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, Hyundai’s ‘Le Fil Rouge’ concept car takes the stage for its French debut.

Hyundai motor announced on July 26 that the company concluded a supply agreement with ComfortDelGro, the largest transportation company in Singapore, for the Ioniq hybrid taxi.
Hyundai, which has been selling Sonata, i40 and other taxis to ComfortDelGro since 2007, plans to supply 500 Ioniq hybrid taxis to ComfortDelGro by the end of the year and additionally, up to 500 cars in the first half of next year according to additional supply agreement.
Up to 1,200 Ioniq hybrid taxis will be on the streets of Singapore including 200 bought in April, and Hyundai is planning to sell 24,000 taxis in 12 years since entering the Singapore taxi market.
In January, the Singapore government introduced the Vehicle Emission Scheme (VES), which enforces existing emissions regulations.
Ioniq Hybrid Taxi is an eco-friendly car taxi that Hyundai first introduced in Singapore.
