(Notes) 1. The Rollover sensor detects vehicle's rollover to activate the curtain air bags.
2. The Hill-start assist control (HAC) holds the brake force for a while (around one second) after the driver releases the brake pedal and until he/she steps on the accelerator pedal at hill starting. The Downhill brake control (DBC) automatically controls the brake to allow the driver to keep a speed of eight km/h only by touching a switch.
3. The Lane departure warning monitors the white lane markers and alerts the driver when he/she likely goes out of the lane without operating turn-signal switch.
4. The Adaptive front lighting system (AFS) changes the lighting direction of head lamps in conjunction with the steering operation.
5. The Auto-dimming rearview mirror, when it detects light from outside of the vehicle or head lights of following traffic by the sensor, automatically darken the color of the mirror to mitigate the dazzle. Generally these mirrors have a layer of electrochromic (EC) gel between the reflecting surface and cover glass. The EC changes its color from transparent to dark blue when a voltage is applied.
6. The Auto-dimming side mirror applies the same system used for the Auto-dimming rear view mirror.
7. The Emergency stop signal, when emergency braking is applied, notifies the following traffic of the danger operating the hazard lamps automatically.
8. The Dual zone air-conditioning allows temperature control for the driver's zone and the front passenger's zone independently. The Four zone air-conditioning allows temperature control for the right zone and left zone of the rear seats independently in addition to the front seats.

2. The Theta four-cylinder engine is the one on which the World Engine co-developed by Chrysler/Mitsubishi/Hyundai Motor was based. The engine was first mounted on the Sonata released in August 2004. Taking the opportunity of the minor change of the Sonata in November 2007, the second generation of the engine (Theta II) was first introduced with improved power, fuel efficiency and emissions.
3. The Lambda V6 engine family consists of 3.3L, 3.5L and 3.8L in displacement. On the Genesis Coupe, a Lambda RS (Rear-drive Sport) engine, which employs the CVVT system for intake and exhaust valves and delivers 306hp, is mounted. On the Genesis, an engine which employs the CVVT system for only intake valves and delivers 290hp is mounted. The Kia Sorento released in April 2009 is installed with a new 3.5L engine from the Lambda family (the European version of the model is planned to be installed with the same).
4. The Tau V8 engine is a newly designed engine which was first installed in the Kia Borrego launched in the beginning of 2008. Three displacements of 4.6L, 5.0L and 5.5L are prepared (the 5.0L and 5.5L engines are for special version such as bulletproof vehicles sold in Korea). The 4.6L engine puts out 368hp on the Equus, 375hp on the Genesis and 337hp on the Borrego.
5. The six-speed AT for the Equus was independently developed by Hyundai Automotive Group, and was first adopted on the Grandeur TG in January 2009. The transmission improves fuel efficiency by 12%, weighs 12kg less comparing with the conventional five-speed AT. And the company says that it is the most compact AT among six-speed AT employed by other companies.
