(Notes) 1. The CLC-Class is an entry level premium coupe model for young people. The competing models are Peugeot 407 coupe and BMW 1 series coupe.
2. The GLK-Class is a compact SUV that holds five people in its two row seating. The competing models are BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
3. The E-Class is a core model among mid-sized models positioned between the C-Class and the S-Class. The sedan and the coupe were released in March and May 2009, respectively. They share the same chassis.
4. The Cruise Control system named Distronic has been updated as Distronic Plus with enhanced functionality. The system maintains a certain distance from the vehicle in front even in stop-and-go traffic. When the system detects danger as the distance from the vehicle driving ahead becomes too close, it warns the driver with lights and sounds. If the driver fails to react, the Pre-Safe function is set off and automatically applies braking.
5. The Intelligent Light System is a headlamp system, which secures good visibility by adapting to driving and weather conditions. It includes the functions such as an Active Light System, which illuminates the actual direction that the vehicle is taking by swiveling the headlamps' light axes left to right in accordance with the steering wheel movements and the vehicle speed, the Cornering Light function, which lights up inside of the carriageway that the vehicle is following when the driver steers and/or indicates, and Adaptive High Beam Assist, which automatically adapts the headlamp range to the distance of oncoming vehicles.
6. Pre-Safe detects dangerous situations from emergency braking or sudden movements of the steering wheel during high-speed driving and then takes preventive actions like tightening seatbelts and closing side windows automatically before accidents.
7. The Active Bonnet reduces the risk of injuries when a pedestrian's head collides and the sensor in the front bumper detects the collision, by pushing up the bonnet by 50 mm to create more space between the bonnet and the engine.
8. Adaptive Brake Lights warn following vehicles of danger by automatically flashing the brake lamps when the driver applies sudden braking while driving at 30 mph or above. This is aimed to prevent accidents such as rear-end collisions by calling following vehicles' attention to react promptly.
9. The Attention Assist continuously analyses the driver's behavior such as steering movements to monitor if there is any sign of drowsiness. When the system detects a sign, it alerts with a warning light and sound.
10. The PARKTRONIC assists the driver's steering operation during parking with ultrasonic sensors embedded in the front and rear bumpers, which detect obstacles and notify how far the vehicle is from an obstacle with indicators and alarm tones. The Advanced Parking Guidance system guides the driver for his/her steering operation to park the vehicle when driving at 22 mph or slower by monitoring the surrounding area to identify space 1.8 meter longer than the vehicle where the vehicle can be parked.
11. Blind Spot Assist detects a vehicle when it comes into a blind spot when driving at 18 to 155 mph and displays a warning sign on the door mirror on the side of which the other vehicle was detected. If the driver ignores the signal and tries to change lanes, the system then warns the driver with audible tones.
12. Lane Keeping Assist alerts the driver when the vehicle is leaving its lane unintentionally by causing the steering wheel to vibrate. When the change of lanes is intentional, the system discerns the difference and no alerting will be made.
13. Night View Assist Plus lets the driver easily look ahead during night driving without being dazzled by oncoming traffic. The system identifies objects ahead with its infrared light and infrared camera and shows the image in the display located in the center console. It also features a function to highlight pedestrians to make them noticeable. The system will be in the market at the end of 2009.
14. Dynamic Multi-Contour Seats automatically adjust the air pressure in the side bolsters according to changes in the steering angle, acceleration and driving speed of the car to provide optimum support for the driver and front passenger. The backrests also feature a massage function.

(Notes) 1. The 1 Series Convertible is a convertible model with an electric soft-top.
2. The X6 is a Sports Activity Coupe that integrates versatility of a SUV and dynamic driving performance of a sports coupe.
3. The 7 Series Sedan is BMW's flagship model and is the fifth generation of the high-end sedan.
4. The Z4 integrates the coupe version and the soft-top roadster version of its former model into a roadster with an electric folding metal roof.
5. The MINI Convertible is the MINI's convertible model being fully remodeled for the first time in five years.
6. Dynamic Stability Control + ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) + ASC +T (Automatic Stability Control) + CBC (Cornering Brake Control) + EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) + DBC (Dynamic Brake Control) + DTC (Dynamic Traction Control)
7. The enhanced functions for DSC are the following four; Brake Drying to improve brake response on wet surfaces, Brake Fade Compensation to provide stable braking even with high brake temperatures, Brake Pre-tensioning to shorten the stopping distance during an emergency stop, and Hill-Start Assistant to prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards when starting on a slope.
8. The Dynamic Performance Control is a system that provides ultimate cornering performance. It controls distribution of drive forces between the two rear wheels flexibly according to road and driving conditions. When entering a corner, the system diverts more drive forces to the wheel on the outside to ensure maintaining a proper driving line at a higher cornering speed.
9. The Drive Dynamic Control function allows the driver to alter driving styles to his/her liking. When a mode from Comfort, Normal, Sport, Sport Plus is selected, a suspension setting, gear change timing for the automatic transmission, the level of assist for the power steering and a DSC setting are adjusted in conjunction with the mode.
10. The Adaptive Drive integrates Active Stabilizer system and a step-less Electronic Damper Control (EDC) to realize dynamic driving and driving comfort at any speed. It is possible to make the suspension setting Sporty by pressing the SPORT button.
11. The Dynamic Damping Control continuously analyzes the vehicle's driving speed, acceleration speed and body movements and sends the data to applicable control units every 0.0025 seconds. Based on the data, the system readily optimizes the damper setting.
12. The Integral Active Steering is a newly developed system. It combines the Active Steering, which variably controls the angle of the front wheels in accordance to the vehicle speed, with a steering function for rear wheels. At mid-slow speeds, the steering angle to the steering wheel becomes bigger and as the rear wheels are steered to the opposite direction to the front wheels, the turning circle becomes smaller, resulting in enhanced agility. At high-speeds, as the steering angle to the steering wheel becomes smaller and the rear wheels are steered to the same direction to the front wheels, it improves driving stability.
13. The Side View Camera presents images caught by the two cameras fitted in the front bumper in the control display to enhance visibility at blind alleys and at car park exits.
14. The Lane Departure Warning System monitors the positions of traffic lane lines and the vehicle with the camera fitted between a rearview mirror and a windscreen. When the vehicle departs the lane unintentionally, the system vibrates the steering wheel to notify the driver. When an indicator is used to change lanes, the system gets deactivated.

(Notes) 1. The Koleos is Renault's first 4WD crossover. It is designed by Renault, engineered by Nissan and manufactured in Korea.
2. The Megane Hatch is a five-door hatchback version of the third-generation Megane, which is fully remodeled for the first time in six years.
3. The Cruise Control with Speed Limiter has a function to limit the speed. When the cruise control is activated, an arch-shaped icon is indicated in green on the speed meter display. When the speed limiter is activated, the icon turns white and then it turns red when the speed exceeds the pre-set limit.
4. The All Mode 4x4-i System was developed by Nissan for the X-TRAIL. The 4WD system with ETC (Electric Torque Control) automatically distributes torque to all four wheels in accordance with the road conditions. Torque is distributed 100% to the front wheels when the road condition is dry but as grip force reduces, torque is automatically distributed to the rear wheels up to 50%. It is possible to "lock" in 4WD, under which torque is equally distributed to both front and rear, on mud, sand or snow where surface resistance is low.
5. The Hill Descent Control maintains the vehicle speed at 7 km/h during the 4WD lock mode and is activated via the touch of a button when descending down a hill. The driver can concentrate on steering without the need to brake.
6. The Hill Start Assist is automatically activated on any sloop that exceeds a 10 degree incline. It holds the brake for two seconds after releasing the brake pedal to prevent the vehicle from rolling down.

(Notes) 1. The Ford Kuga is Ford Europe's first crossover model. The exterior features Ford's Kinetic Design. The annual production is planned to be 65,000.
2. The Ford Fiesta is a compact model developed in Europe and marketed globally. This is Ford's first major model from Ford's new global product development system. A hatchback model is released for the European market.
3. The Ford Ka is a compact model, which Ford says retains the compact size and the unique design of the current model while offers more stylish exterior/interior and dynamic driving.
4. The Volvo XC60 is Volvo's first compact premium crossover model. The new model features a coupe's style as well as a cross-country's style and performance.
5. Intelligent/Electronic All-wheel Drive automatically changes distribution of engine power to front and rear wheels according to road conditions. On a normal condition, the system transmits engine power only to the front wheels to save fuel consumption. On a condition where grip is required such as a frozen road surface or off-road, or when towing another vehicle, the system transmits engine power to all four wheels.
6. The Electric Power Assisted Steering alternates the level of steering assist depending on the driving speed. At low speeds, the system increases the level of assist to make steering lighter while at high speeds it reduces the level of assist to make it easier to feel the road condition.
7. The Active Bending Headlamps automatically change their angles side to side by up to 15 degrees in accordance with the vehicle's cornering to illuminate the direction the vehicle is heading.
8. The Dual Chamber Side Airbags consist of dual chambers with a chamber designed for lower back inflates with five times higher pressure than a chest chamber.
9. The WHIPS protects occupants' necks which are fragile, as the front seats move to a reclining position at the time of a collision and absorbs the energy of the impact with the entire backrest.
10. The City Safety helps to prevent, or reduces damages caused by, rear-end collisions which are caused when driving slower than 19 mph in traffic jams or in intersections. It monitors the driving condition of the vehicle traveling six meters in front with its laser sensor and pre-charges the brake system when it detects a potential rear-end collision. If the driver doesn't apply the brake, it automatically applies the brake and suppresses the engine output.
11. Pre-Prepared Restraints monitors vehicles in front with its laser sensor. When it detects the possibility of a collision, it prepares airbags and seatbelts with load limiters to reduce the impact of the collision.
12. The Blind Spot Information System observes blind spots diagonally behind the vehicle with the digital cameras installed on the door mirrors. When a vehicle or motorcycle enters the blind spot, a warning light fitted on the inside door panel flashes to alert the driver.
13. The Lane Departure Warning monitors the position of the vehicle in relation to roadside markings through a digital camera when driving at 40 mph or above. When the vehicle moves out of its lane, it gives an audible warning signal unless the driver uses the indicator before changing lanes.
14. The Driver Alert Control is a system to alert tired drivers. It is activated when driving at 40 mph or above and warns the driver when it determines the driving style is different from her/his usual style, judging from the road condition and the steering manipulation.
