The 19 Chinese auto manufacturer groups (Though China FAW Group and Dongfeng Motor Corp. did not exhibit their products as a group, their group companies made a presentation) exhibited 49 own brand vehicles centered on models, production of which will begin 2007 (which includes plans), 14 eco-friendly cars such as hybrid cars and alcohol-fueled cars, and 17 concept cars (including fuel cell vehicles).
■In the China FAW Group, Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile exhibited Weizhi 3box while FAW Haima Motor displayed Haima H1 China FAW Group did not make a presentation as a group and FAW Car Co., Ltd. also did not exhibit its own brand vehicles. Yet, Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile and FAW Haima Motor displayed their own brand vehicles. Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile plans to develop a total of nine lines of products including Weizhi by 2010. FAW Haima Motor plans to introduce three to four new models by 2010 (it will also make some minor changes to three to four models). The company is reported to invest 1.2 billion RMB in the construction of a new engine plant, planning to manufacture 1.6/1.8/2.0L engine (As its proprietary engines, FAW Haima Motor displayed 1.8L HM483Q, which it currently mass-produces, and 1.6L HM479Q, which it plans to mass-produce starting in 2008). ■Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile exhibited Weizhi 3box, which it launched in April 2007 ■Weizhi 3box: C1 concept-base sedan (based on Toyota's platform NBC), which was unveiled at the Auto Shanghai 2005. 4245/1680/1500 with a wheelbase of 2425mm. The model was lined off in March 2007 and was released in April 2007 at 63,800-66,800 RMB. It uses 1.5L engine manufactured at Toyota's Tianjin engine plant having a maximum output of 75kW, which meets Euro III emission standards. ■FAW Haima Motor exhibited Haima H1, which it launched in May 2007, and Haima H11 ■Haima H1: The model is the first proprietary model that was based on FAW Haima's proprietary platform H1. The body was jointly designed with Italy-based IDEA (commonly called Haima 3). Production/sale began in May 2007 (selling price is 100,000-130,000 RMB). 4466/1730/1474 with a wheelbase of 2607mm. The model uses FAW Haima Motor's own 1.8L H-VIS engine with a maximum output of 122.4 horsepower, which meets Euro III emission standard, and 5-speed MT.
■Haima H11 concept: The model is a 5-door hatchback that is reported to be released in 2008 (Photo). 4400/1740/1466 with a wheelbase of 2607mm. The model shares the same platform with Haima H1. (Photo) ■Haima H12 (Haima 3-EV) concept: The model is an electric vehicle concept for workers. The model uses a motor with a maximum output of 50kW and lithium battery. The charging time is six to eight hours. The maximum cruising distance is 140km. The maximum speed is 140km/h. The model shares the same platform with Haima H1. (Photo) In addition, FAW Haima Motor exhibited Familia 2nd, which it released in August 2006, Haima S1 sports concept, which it released at the China Auto (Beijing) 2006, and H1 CCC racing car. ■In Dongfeng Motor Corp., Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile exhibited JingYi hatchback, which it plans to launch in 2007 Dongfeng Motor Corp. did not make a presentation as a group, but Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile exhibited JingYi hatchback and own brand light vans that it currently produces - LingYue/LingTong/LingZhi. ■JingYi: 5-door hatchback, the intellectual property right of which Dongfeng Motor Corp. holds. 4320/1804/1644 with a wheelbase of 2685mm. The model uses 1.8L Mitsubishi-model 4G93 D4 engine with a maximum output of 98kW, which is manufactured by Harbin Dongan Automotive Engine, and 5-speed MT. JingYi is planned to be launched as early as in the latter half of 2007 at a selling price of 110,000-150,000 RMB.
■SAIC Group exhibited Roewe W2 concept, which Shanghai Automotive plans to mass-produce at the end of 2007 SAIC Group exhibited its own brand models including Roewe W2 concept car, which Shanghai Automotive Co., Ltd. plans to start producing at the end of 2007, Roewe 750, which was released in 2006, and Wuling Hongtu, which SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile launched in March 2007. ■W2 concept: The model is an own brand sedan following Roewe 750. Mass-production is scheduled to begin in December 2007. The model is jointly developed by R&D centers in the UK and Shanghai. The selling price of the mass-produced model is planned to be less than 200,000MB. (Photo)
■Shanghai FCV concept: A fuel-cell vehicle, development of which SAIC is reported to have led. It is the fourth-generation concept that has reused the Shanghai brand. Shanghai FCV concept adopts a 350Pa hydrogen tank and lithium secondary battery, having a maximum output of 60kW. SAIC says that it will begin small-lot production of the fuel-cell vehicle by 2010.(Photo) ■Roewe 750 hybrid: A hybrid model based on Roewe 750 (unveiled at the Auto China (Beijing) 2006). Small-lot production is planned to begin in 2008 and mass-production is planned to start in 2010. The model, which meets Euro IV emission standards, has improved the fuel efficiency by 25% compared to the same type car. (Photo) ■In Changan Automotive Group, Chongqing Changan Automobile exhibited JieXun and a new model mid-size sedan while Jiangling Landwind Motor displayed Fenghua Changan Automotive Group exhibited own brand models such as JieXun and Changan Star 2nd, which Chongqing Changan Automobile launched in 2007, a mid-size sedan concept car planned to be released in 2008, and Fenghua, which is Landwind Motor's sedan planned to be released in the latter half of 2007. Concerning current production models, Changan Automotive Group exhibited models including BenBen and Changan Star Light (light van), which Chongqing Changan Automobile launched in 2006, and Landwind Fengshang/Landwind X9 MPV, which Landwind Motor released in 2006. ■Chongqing Changan Automobile exhibited JieXun and Changan Star 2nd, which it released in 2007 ■JieXun: Chongqing Changan Automobile's first 7-seat MPV, which was lined off in March 2007. It was released in April of the same year at 104,800-149,800 RMB. JieXun is based on CV11 concept, which was unveiled at the Auto Shanghai 2003. 4445/1768/1640 with a wheelbase of 2710mm. The model uses 2.0L engine with a maximum output of 112kW, which it jointly developed with Germany-based FEV, and 5-speed MT/DSS 4-speed AT. (The auto manufacturer also displayed a cut model of JieXun hybrid, which it plans to release in 2008. ■Changan Star 2nd: The model is its own brand mini van, production/sale of which began in March 2007. The standard selling price is 39,400 RMB. 3845/1500(1580)/1900 with a wheelbase of 2500mm. The model uses 1.0L engine with a maximum output of 39kW and 5-speed MT. The auto manufacturer plans to add 1.3L spec at an early date.
■CV8 concept: A concept car of a mid-size sedan, production/sale of which is planned to start at the beginning of 2008 (Photo). 4505/1725/1450 with a wheelbase of 2630mm. The model uses 2.0L turbo engine with a maximum output of 122kW and 5-speed MT. (Photo) ■JIangling Landwind Motor exhibited Landwind Fenghua, which it will newly launch in 2007 ■Landwind Fenghua: The model is the first sedan of Jiangling Landwind Motor, intellectual property right of which Chongqing Changan Automobile holds. It is produced at Landwind Motor Xialan plant of Jiangxi province and is planned to be released in the latter half of 2007 at a selling price of less than 100,000 RMB (Germany-based EDAG designed the model). 4167/1635/1430 with a wheelbase of 2492mm. The model uses 1.6L SOHC L4 engine with a maximum output of 71kW, which meets Euro III emission standards.
■Landwind X6 XinShiLi: The model is a spec with a new engine. It was released in Guangzhou city in May 2007. 4800/1800/1750 with a wheelbase of 2760mm. The new engine is 2.8L common-rail DE (jointly developed between Jiangling Motors and Bosch) with a maximum output of 68kW, which meets Euro III emission standards (the former model uses Mitsubishi-spec 2.4L 4G64S4M engine or 2.0L 4G63S4M engine). The standard selling price is 108,800 RMB. (Photo) ■Nanjing Automobile Group exhibited MG 7 series and TF, which it will launch in 2007 Nanjing Automobile Group exhibited as its own brand models MG 7 series and TF, which Nanjing MG Motor will start producing/selling in 2007. (For reference exhibit, the auto manufacturer displayed models such as MG 5, MG A 1959 Roadster classic model, and 1937 MG SA (Cowley)) Nanjing MG Motor is currently preparing an annual production system for 200,000 passenger cars/250,000 engines/100,000 transmissions by 2010. The company lined off MG TF at the Longbridge plant in the UK in May 2007, planning to start mass-production in 2007 (The US plant is reported to be currently considered as well). ■MG 7 1.8T: The model is based on the former UK-based MG ZT. It was lined off in March 2007 and is planned to be released in 2007. 4749/1761/1421 with a wheelbase of 2749mm. The model uses 1.8L turbo engine with a maximum output of 118kW and Getrag 5-speed MT (Nanjing MG Motor also displayed sports 1.8T spec, and 7L long spec (overall length of 4949mm) that uses 2.5L V6 engine with a maximum output of 130kW). ■MG TF: The model is based on an open sports car of the former UK-based MG. It was lined off in March 2007 (in May 2007 at the plant in the UK) and is planned to be launched in 2007. 3943/1628/1249 with a wheelbase of 2375mm. The model uses 1.8L engine with a maximum output of 100kW and 5-speed MT. (Photo) ■In Beijing Automotive Industry, Beijing Automobile Manufacturing Factory exhibited a new model - YongShi 2nd - and its civilian spec is also planned to be releaed Beijing Automotive Industry exhibited YongShi 2nd, a civilian spec of which Beijing Automobile Manufacturing Factory will also release in 2007, and its existing production models such as LuBa SUV and LuLing pickup, as well as MP-X, which Beiqi Foton Motor launched in April 2007, and the latest spec of Foton Chuanqi SAGA X. ■YongShi 2nd: The model is the 2nd-generation off-road vehicle of YongShi, which Beijing Automobile Manufacturing Factory spent seven years developing (military spec). The civilian spec is also planned to be released in the latter half of 2007. (Photo) ■Hafei Motor exhibited LuZun light van, which it plans to release in 2007, and SaiMa ShangWuCang, which is its first MPV Hafei Motor exhibited LuZun, a light van that it plans to start producing/selling in 2007, SaiMa ShangWuCang, its first MPV, New Lobo (Lobo 2nd), which was released in March 2007, SaiBao V (produced at the Shenzhen branch factory), which it launched in November 2006, and SaiBao III. (Hafei Motor aims to export 30,000 vehicles in 2007). ■SaiMa ShangWuCang (HF 8): The model is Hafei Motor's first own-brand 7-seat MPV that is based on Mitsubishi Dion. 4460/1695/1650 (1690) with a wheelbase of 2705mm. The model uses 2.0L Mitsubishi 4G63S4M engine (manufactured by Shenyang Mitsubishi Engine Mfg.) with a maximum output of 91kW and 5-speed MT/4-speed AT. Production is planned to begin at the Shenzhen branch factory.
■LuZun: The model is a 5- to 8-seat minivan, which was displayed at the Auto China (Beijing) 2006) as a concept car. Production/sale is planned to begin in 2007. 4180/1695/1875 with a wheelbase of 2620mm. The model uses 1.3L engine (manufactured by Harbin Dongan Auto Engine) with a maximum output of 58kW, which meets Euro III emission standards, or 1.5L Mitsubishi-model engine with a maximum output of 78kW. (Photo) ■Brilliance Automotive exhibited JunJie FRV and Grandor diesel spec, which it plans to launch in 2008 ■JunJie FRV 2box: A class hatchback that is planned to be released at the beginning of 2008 (It was developed as ZhongHua M4. Its internal name is ZhongHua A1). Export of the product is also planned. The sales target for 2008 is 60,000 units. 4180/1755/1460 with a wheelbase of 2570mm. The model uses 1.6L 4G18 engine with a maximum output of 79kW, which meets Euro IV emission standards, and 4-speed AT. It is reported that the company plans to add sedan/wagon/MPV using the same platform.
■Grandor diesel spec: Production/sale will begin in March 2008. The product is also planned to be exported to Germany (The model was unveiled at the China (Beijing) 2006). 4880/1800/1450 with a wheelbase of 2790mm. The model uses 1.85L D19TCI diesel-powered engine (that is manufactured by KunMing Yunnei Power) with a maximum output of 82kW, which meets Euro III emission standards, and 6-speed MT. The planned selling price is approximately 130,000 RMB. (Photo) In addition, Brilliance Automotive (Shenyang Brilliance Jinbei Automotive) exhibited models including JunJie 1.8T and Grandor 1.8T (each using 1.8T turbo engine), both of which it added to the spec in March 2007, JunJie Coupe (Photo), which was announced as Zhonghua M3 sports at the Auto China (Beijing) 2006 and which is planned to be released in the latter half of 2007, and Grace specialty spec. ■Chery Automobile exhibited Chery A1/A3/A6, which it will launch in 2007, and a large number of eco-friendly models Chery Automobile exhibited 30 models including A1/A3/A6 (which it plans to launch in 2007) and seven eco-friendly cars such as hybrid spec or alcohol-fueled car. ■Chery A1: The model is A0-class RV that is designed by Bertone. It is considered to be a world strategy car that competes with Yaris, March, and Citroen C2. Chery A1 was unveiled at the Auto China (Beijing) 2006 and released in April 2007. The model uses 1.3L engine with a maximum output of 61kW and 5-speed MT. Chery Automobile plans to add 1.1L engine (50kW) spec and 1.0L diesel-powered engine (46kW) spec (Photo).
■Chery A3: The model is jointly developed with Pininfarina. The sedan spec is planned to be released in the latter half of 2007 at approximately 100,000 RMB (its concept car was unveiled at the Auto China (Beijing) 2006). 4352/1794/1464 with a wheelbase of 2550mm. The model uses 1.8L ACTECO engine with a maximum output of 97kW and CVT. Chery Automobile plans to add 1.3/1.6/2.0L spec. (Photo) The auto manufacturer also displayed A3 hybrid spec, which it will mass-produce as early as in 2008. The hybrid system consists of 1.3L diesel-powered engine with a maximum output of 60kW, a 30kW motor, and CVT (also displayed a hybrid spec of A1, A5, and QQ6). ■Chery A6: The model is a middle-class/high-end sedan that is planned to be released at the end of 2007. It uses 8 airbags as standard equipment. 4714/1794/1740 with a wheelbase of 2700mm. The model uses 3.0L V6 engine with a maximum output of 146kW/maximum torque of 278Nm and 4-speed AT. (Photo)
■Chery A6 CC concept: The model is a concept car of a 4-seat sports sedan jointly developed with Bertone. 4615/1821/1394 with a wheelbase of 2700mm. The model uses 2.0L TCI engine or 3.0L V6 CBR VVT engine and 4-speed AT with manual mode. (Photo) ■Chery Shooting Sport concept: The model is a 5-seat concept model that is reported to have integrated Coupe and Wagon. 4140/1824/1397 with a wheelbase of 2500mm. The model uses 1.6L engine with a maximum output of 87kW. (Photo) In addition, Chery Automobile exhibited Chery A5 FFV and Eastar Cross Bio-Diesel (Photo), both of which can be powered by alcohol or bio-diesel fuel, saying that it plans to mass-produce both the models. Also, the company displayed a fuel-cell vehicle - Eastar FCV concept (Mass-production is expected to begin between 2015 and 2020). ■Great Wall Motor exhibited 10 models including its new models - Cowry/Great Wall i7/Great Wall Mini SUV Great Wall Motor exhibited 10 own brand models including Cowry, which it unveiled for the first time, Great Wall i7 2box, and Great Wall Mini SUV. The company will introduce three to four new models a year between 2007 and 2010, targeting sales of 500,000 vehicles in 2010. It also plans to start mass-production of 1.5L engines for passenger cars starting in August 2007. Its new engine plant will start operations in 2008 (with an investment of USD257 million). Great Wall Motor plans to build up an annul production system for 400,000 engines. ■Cowry: The model is the first 5-door 7-seat MPV under Great Wall Motor brand. 4574/1704/1845 with a wheelbase of 2825mm. Production will start in October 2007 and also production at the plant in Russia is scheduled to begin by December 2007. ■Great Wall i7 2box: The model is a 5-seat hatchback, which is planned to be released by March 2008. 3810/1700/1541 with a wheelbase of 2460mm. The model uses 1.3L engine with a maximum output of 65kW or 1.5L engine with a maximum output of 74kW, which meet Euro IV emission standards, and 5-speed MT. The selling price is planned to be 50,000-100,000 RMB.
■Great Wall Mini SUV: The model is 4WD Compact SUV, which is planned to be released by March 2008. 3569/1611/1595 (1632) with a wheelbase of 2305mm. The model uses 1.3L engine with a maximum output of 65kW, which meets Euro IV emission standards, and 5-speed MT. The selling price is planned to be 50,000-100,000 RMB. (Photo) In addition, Great Wall Motor exhibited GWPERI, Florid, and Cool Bear, all of which it unveiled at the Auto China (Beijing) 2006. GWPERI is scheduled to be released in August 2007 (at a selling price of 50,000-70,000 RMB) and is also planned to be produced in the plant in Russia starting in 2007. Florid is planned to be released at the end of 2007 (at a selling price of 80,000 RMB). Cool Bear is planned to be launched in 2008 (at a selling price of 70,000-100,000 RMB). Also, the auto manufacturer displayed its existing production models such as Wingle pickup that uses 2.8L common-rail DE (standard selling price is 80,000-110,000 RMB), which it launched in three provinces - Guangdong/Fujian/Zhejiang - in December 2006, MingHao Motor-Home, a remodeled light built van, Hover limousine, and Hover CUV diesel spec. ■Hunan Changfeng Motor exhibited LieBao M1A and CS6 concept, which it plans to produce starting in 2007 Hunan Changfeng Motor exhibited eight own-brand models including those of Changfeng Yangzi Automobile and also announced that it had reached an agreement with Mitsubishi Motors to establish an equally-owned joint venture company. ■LieBao M1A: The model is a 5-seat MPV that adopts UK-based Lotus' chassis. Production/sale is scheduled to begin in September 2007. 4239/1735/1603mm. The model uses 1.6L Mitsubishi 4G18 engine. The selling price is planned to be 70,000-80,000 RMB.
■LieBao CS6 concept: The model is a concept model of a 5-seat SUV developed jointly with Pininfarina, which was unveiled at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It uses the platform of Mitsubishi Pajero V series. Mass-production is scheduled to begin in July 2007. Export to the US is also planned. 4982/1865/1835mm. The model uses VM R425 2.5L DE. ■Yangzi FeiBao CT5 concept: The model is a 5-seat large pickup concept model. Its production/sale plan has yet to be announced. 5235/1880/1837mm. The model uses 3.0L gasoline engine. (Photo) In addition, Hunan Changfeng Motor exhibited models such as Changfeng LieBao CFA6470L and FeiBao 6400G, Changfeng UU-CT3 concept, which Changfeng Yangzi Automobile under its umbrella displayed at the Auto China (Beijing) 2006, and Changfeng Yangzi YZK1021EA. ■Jianghuai Automobile exhibited C926 mid-size sedan, which it is scheduled to begin producing in July 2007 Jianghuai Automobile exhibited three products in two specs of C926 mid-size sedan, which it plans to start producing in July 2007, and its existing production models such as Rein and Refine Xianghe. Jianghuai Automobile plans to add six models using four platforms that uses 0.8/1.1/1.3/1.6L engine with a plan to introduce one new model a year starting in 2007. ■C926 3box: The model is a mid-size sedan that was jointly developed between Jianghuai Automobile's R&D centers in Italy and Japan. It shares the same platform with Refine and Rein SRV. Production will begin in July 2007. C926 3box is planned to be sold at 140,000-170,000 RMB (sales target for 2007 is 5,000 units). 4830/1820/1424 with a wheelbase of 2797mm. The model uses 2.0L engine with a maximum output of 95kW or 2.4L engine with a maximum output of 100kW and 5-speed MT/4-speed AT (2.4L spec uses MT alone).
■Geely Holding Group exhibited YingLunDiHua, which it will start mass-producing in 2008, and an export spec of Free Fleet Geely Holding Group, which aims to produce/sell 2 million units in 2015, exhibited a total of 14 models at a joint booth with Geely Automobile and Shanghai Maple Automobile. ■YingLunDiHua: A compact car that is based on London Taxi TX4 manufactured in the UK in 1948 (Geely Holding Group has the intellectual property right). Production will begin at the Shanghai plant of Shanghai Maple Automobile in the first half of 2008. The product is also planned to be exported to Japan, the US, the UK (In the UK, YingLunDiHua is planned to be marketed by a joint venture company with MBH at the expected selling price of approximately 30,000 Euro), and Germany. 4580/2036/1834 with a wheelbase of 2886mm. The model uses 2.5L DE and 5-speed MT/4-speed AT. (Photo) ■Free Fleet right-hand drive spec: The model is a right-hand drive export spec (it was unveiled for the first time at the Auto China (Beijing) 2006). 4152/1680/1440 with a wheelbase of 2434mm. The model uses 1.5L engine with a maximum output of 69kW, which meets Euro III emission standards.
In addition, Geely Holding Group exhibited its three concept cars - Geely coupe Leading II concept (Photo), KingKong II concept (Photo), and Vision II concept (Photo). Also, the company displayed its existing production models including Hisoon 2box 1.5L (R50), Hisoon 3box (R51) 1.5L sports spec, LG-1 KingKong 1.6L, FC-1 Vision 1.8L, and Free Fleet 2007 (CK-1A). It also made a presentation of AGF racing car, which it jointly developed with UK-based Van-Diemen (the model uses Geely Holding Group's own JL4G18 CVVT engine). Furthermore, Geely Holding Group exhibited an alcohol-fueled spec of Marindo MA sedan and a hybrid spec of Hysoul MA sedan, which it unveiled at the Auto China (Beijing) 2006 and which it plans to release in 2009. ■BYD Auto exhibited F3-R 2box/F6 3box/F8 sports, which it will release in 2007 BYD Auto exhibited F3-R, F6, and F8, all of which it plans to release in 2007, F3, which it launched in 2005, and Flyer '07 spec. BYD Auto will boost its annual production capacity to 200,000 vehicles in 2007, targeting sales of 150,000. ■F3-R 2box: The model is an A class hatchback, production/sale of which began in April 2007. ■New F6 3box: The model is planned to be launched in 2007 (the former model was exhibited at the Auto China (Beijing) 2004 and Auto Shanghai 2005, but was not released). 4850/1822/1465 with a wheelbase of 2740mm. The model uses 2.0L BIVT engine with a maximum output of 103kW, which meets Euro IV emission standards, and 5-speed MT, or 2.4L Mitsubishi 4G69 (MIVEC) engine with a maximum output of 121kW and 4-speed AT. The selling price is planned to be approximately 150,000 RMB. (Photo) ■F8 sports: The model is a glass-roof open sports car that was unveiled at the Auto China (Beijing) 2006. It is planned to be released at the end of 2007. The selling price is expected to be 200,000 RMB. ■Lifan Automobile exhibited hybrid spec/hatchback spec/new sedan of Lifan 520 Lifan Automobile exhibited Lifan 520 2box, a hatchback spec that it will additionally produce starting in September 2007, 520 sedan with the updated spec, and C520 hybrid, a hybrid concept car. Lifan Automobile is currently building up its domestic production system for 150,000 passenger cars and 200,000 engines for passenger cars in China with the target year set at 2008. The company plans to start mass-production of its proprietary CVT in 2008. (The 2007 sales target of 520 series is 45,000 in China and 5,000 abroad). Concerning the model plan, Lifan Automobile plans to line off a compact car, which is the company's self-proclaimed Mini in China, and a B-class model (not exhibited at this Auto Show), which is a derivate of 520, around the end of 2007.
