Exhibitions by Toyota/Korea-based Auto Manufacturers at Auto China (Beijing) 2006 (1) |

Hyundai exhibited Elantra sports and Kia new RIO as models planned to be produced in China. The auto manufacturer also exhibited EN Veracruz, import/sale of which will begin in February 2007, and Kia 2007 New Carens, import/sale of which started in February 2006. As models, production of which started in 2006, Toyota exhibited Camry and Hyundai exhibited New Accent/Santa Fe/2007 Cerato. In addition, Hyundai exhibited the fourth-generation Coupe, import/sale of which began in October 2006. (Note) The official name of China Auto (Beijing) 2006 is 2006 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition: Abbreviated name is Auto China (Beijing) 2006. The exhibition centered on passenger cars and auto parts and accessories while commercial vehicles were also exhibited at a separate site. The combined total area of the two sites for exhibition totaled slightly more than 120,000 square meters. From more than 20 countries and regions, approximately 1,500 auto manufacturers, auto-parts/accessory suppliers exhibited their products. The number of vehicles exhibited surpassed 570. ■Toyota exhibited 28 types of vehicles including New Corolla and Lexus RX400h hybrid SUV Toyota, which targets sales of 300,000 vehicles and slightly more than 400,000 vehicles in 2006 and 2007, respectively, exhibited 28 types of vehicles including Lexus brand models. In addition, Daihatsu exhibited five models. ■Production of New Corolla is planned to begin at the Tianjin joint venture plant in 2007 Concerning Toyota brand vehicles, the auto manufacturer exhibited New Corolla, New Previa, which was introduced in China for the first time at the 2006 Guangzhou Motor Show (China) held in July, and New RAV4. (As reference exhibits, Toyota exhibited Fine-T concept, which was introduced in China for the first time at the 2006 Guangzhou Motor Show (China), and i-swing concept, which was introduced for the first time at this Auto Show). ■KaLuoLa (New Corolla): Toyota plans to start production of the 10th-genartion new Corolla at a third plant of Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor, which is currently under construction, in the middle of 2007. The model uses 1.8L Dual VVT-i-type 2ZR-FE engine and 4-speed AT/6-speed MT. The model has an overall length 4,540 x overall width 1,760 x overall height 1,490mm. It is 10mm longer and 55mm wider than HuaGuan (9th-generation Corolla) (Photo), which is currently being mass-produced. KaLuoLa is equipped with VSC as well as side airbags and curtain airbags. (Note) HuaGuan (9th-generation Corolla) uses 1.8L 1ZZ-FE engine and 4-speed AT/5-speed MT. The standard selling price is 156,800 RMB for the AT spec and 144,800 RMB for the MT spec.
■Eight Lexus brand models including RX400h hybrid SUV were exhibited With respect to Lexus brand vehicles, the auto manufacturer exhibited RX400h hybrid SUV and LS460, which is a flagship model of Lexus, as well as RX350 (SUV. Standard selling price is 730,000 RMB), ES350 (469,000-549,000 RMB)/IS300 (435,000-479,000 RMB), GS430 (808,000 RMB), SC430 (1.12 million RMB), and LX470 (SUV. 1,156,000 RMB). Incidentally, as of November 2006, a total of 12 exclusive dealers for Lexus brand are in operation - two each in Beijing/Shanghai/Guangzhou, one each in Shenzhen/Chengdu/Dalian/Nanjing/Suzhou/Hangzhou. The number of dealers is planned to increase to 24 in the spring of 2007. ■RX400h: Hybrid SUV under Lexus brand. The model uses 3.3L V6 engine that meets Euro IV emission standard. ■LS460 L long luxury version: Import/sale began in September 2006. The model uses a 4.6L V8 engine with a maximum output of 255kW and 8-speed AT. It is equipped with a seat with a massage function. The standard selling price is 1.22 million RMB. (Photo) (Note) The standard selling price corresponds to the suggested retail price in Japan. The price is, in principle, as of November 2006. ■Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor exhibited 2006 models of its existing production models including Reiz/Crown/Vios ■Reiz (Mark X) 2.5V sunroof-spec model: 2006 model of Mark X 2.5V-spec. The model is equipped with VSC/HAC/TRC and is additionally equipped with a sunroof, released in November 2006 at a price of 252,500 RMB. It uses 2.5L Dual VVT-i engine, which is manufactured at Toyota's Changchun engine plant, and 6-speed AT with manual mode. The model has an overall length 4,735 x overall width 1,775 x overall height 1,450mm. ■Crown 2.5 Royal special edition: The model is a special edition with sunroof and leather seat which was released in November 2006. The standard selling price is about 320,000 RMB. It uses 2.5L Dual VVT-i V6 engine. The model has an overall length 4,855 x overall width 1,780 x overall height 1,480mm. ■Vios GL 2006 model: The model newly uses VVT-i engine and was released in August 2006. The standard selling price is 94,900 RMB for MT spec and 106,900 RMB for AT spec. ■Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor exhibited Prius, which is manufactured in China ■Prius: Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor exhibited a Chinese-spec model of Prius hybrid vehicle, which is manufactured at its Changchun plant and was released in January 2006. The standard selling price is 296,200 RMB. The model has an overall length 4,450 x overall width 1,725 x overall height 1,510mm. In addition, the auto manufacturer exhibited Land Cruiser Prado VX spec model that is additionally equipped with car navigation system/DVD player, which was released in August 2006 at a price of 558,000-598,000 RMB, as well as Land Cruiser. ■Guangzhou Toyota Motor exhibited 6th-generation Camry, mass-production of which began in June 2006 ■Camry: The latest 6th-generation Camry, which Guangzhou Toyota Motor started producing in May 2006 and released in June of the same year. The model has an overall length 4,825 x overall width 1,820 x overall height 1,485mm. The auto manufacturer exhibited a total of three models with different body colors and specs including 200G luxury model with 2.0L 1AZ-FE VVT-i engine and 4-speed AT and 240V Navi model with 2.4L 2AZ-FE VVT-i engine and 5-speed AT with manual mode.
■At its booth for technology, Toyota exhibited RX400h Cut Model/Reiz Crash Body At its technology booth, Toyota exhibited a hybrid vehicle, Lexus RX400h Cut Model (Photo), and Prius Cut Model. The auto manufacturer also exhibited an engine that it plans to install in the New Corolla to be manufactured in China (Photo), and an engine to be used in Camry (Photo), appealing its technology to protect the environment. The auto manufacturer set up a booth to introduce Reiz (Mark X) Crash Body, which was also exhibited at the 2006 Guangzhou Motor Show (China), and a GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment) collision-safety body (Photo), appealing its safety technology as well. ■Daihatsu exhibited a total of five models including two models planned to be produced in China staring in 2007 ■D-01 crossover: The model is one planned to be produced under license at the Jilin plant of China FAW- FAW Jilin Automobile - starting in the latter half of 2007 (it is based on Xenia/Toyota Avanza, which Daihatsu jointly developed with Toyota for Indonesia). The model uses 1.5L VVT-i gasoline engine. The model has an overall length 4,160 x overall width 1,654 x overall height 2,055mm. (Photo)
■D-01 sporty: The model is a sports-spec compact model of D-01, which is produced at the Jilin plant of China FAW starting in the latter half of 2007. It uses the same 1.5L VVTi engine as the one used in D-01 crossover version. D-01 sporty has an overall length 4,154 x overall width 1,646 x overall height 1,670mm. (Photo)
■HVS (Hybrid Vehicle Sports) concept: A sports open car. The model is a concept car with a hybrid system that adopts 1.5L VVT-i gasoline engine, two front motors with a maximum output of 24kW/one rear motor with a maximum output of 20kW, Ni-H battery, and CVT. Its maximum output is 80kW. The model has an overall length 3,715 x overall width 1,695 x overall height 1,235mm. (Photo) ■Be-go: Reference exhibit. The model is an SUV for the global market which was released in Japan and Europe in the spring of 2006. It uses 1.5L VVT-i gasoline engine. The model has an overall length 4,085 x overall width 1,745 x overall height 1,740mm. (Photo) ■Copen: Reference exhibit. The model is Daihatsu's compact open car (with aluminum roof). It was released in Japan and Europe in 2006 (priced at about 1.5 million Yen. Its base model was launched in Japan in 2002). Copen uses 1.3L VVT-i (K3-VE type) engine. The model has an overall length 3,440 x overall width 1,475 x overall height 1,245mm. (Photo) ■Hyundai exhibited EN Veracruz, which debuted in the world, and 4th-generation Coupe Korea-based Hyundai exhibited a total of 13 models including those currently being mass-produced at Beijing Hyundai Motor. Rongcheng Huatai Automobile, which KD assembles Hyundai SUVs, also exhibited five current production models at its own booth. ■EN Veracruz GLS: Debut in the world. The model is a flagship (7-seat) SUV that is scheduled to be imported/sold starting in February 2007. The model uses 3.8L DOHC V6 λ-CVVT engine with a maximum output of 191kW and 6-speed AT with manual mode, which is manufactured by Aisin. The model has an overall length 4,840 x overall width 1,970 x overall height 1,807mm. The standard selling price is reported to be 450,000 RMB.
■New Coupe 2.0AT: The 4th-generatin Coupe (debut in the world at the 2006 Guangzhou Motor Show (China), import/sale of which began in October 2006. The standard selling price is 200,000-220,000 RMB. The model uses 2.0L I4 DOHC CVVT engine with a maximum output of 105kW and 4-speed AT with manual mode. It is equipped with four airbags (front/side). (The model with 2.7L DOHC V6 engine was not exhibited)
■New Santa Fe 2.7 GLS: Import/sale began in April 2006. The standard selling price is 290,000-310,000 RMB. The model uses 2.7L μ-CVVT V6 engine with a maximum output of 138kW, which meets Euro III emission standard, and 4-speed AT with manual mode. It is equipped with 6 airbags. The model has an overall length 4,675 x overall width 1,890 x overall height 1,795mm. (the overall length is 175mm longer than that of the former model).
■New Azera 2.7 GLS: New Azera, import/sale of which began in 2006. The model uses 2.7Lμ-CVVT V6-type new engine (maximum output is 141kW) that meets Euro III emission standard and 5-speed AT with manual mode. The standard selling price is approximately 260,000 RMB. (The auto manufacturer did not exhibit the model that uses 3.3L V6 Lambda engine and 5-speed AT) ■HED-3 (Arnejs) concept: Reference exhibit. The model is a C segment concept car that was designed by Hyundai's design center in Germany. It uses 2.0L VGT engine with a maximum output of 127kW (Diesel-170hp) and 5-speed AT. The model has an overall length 4,335 x overall width 1,840 x overall height 1,488mm. (Photo) In addition, Hyundai exhibited Matrix with 1.6L engine that meets Euro III emission standards and AT (import/sale of the model began in 2006) and its flagship model - Equus Limousine 3.5L long model. ■Beijing Hyundai Motor exhibited Elantra sports spec and the 2006 models of existing mass-produced models ■Elantra 2box: The model is a sports model of Elantra. Production is scheduled to begin at Beijing Hyundai Motor in 2007. The model uses 1.6Lα-CVVT engine and MT/HIVEC AT. It is equipped with smart airbag. (Photo)
■New Elantra 2006 3box: The model is a 2006 model of the 7th-generation Elantra, which was launched in May 2006. The model newly uses 1.6L α-CVVT engine that meets Euro III emission standards. New Elantra 2006 has four specs with AT. The standard selling price is 104,800-124,800 RMB (The former model uses 1.8L engine. Its standard selling price is 131,800-141,800 RMB). ■Sonata 2.0L 2006 model: The model is a 2006 Chinese-spec model of the 7th-generatoin Sonata, which was launched in January 2006. The model uses 2.0L engine that meets Euro III emission standards. The standard selling price is 139,800-177,800 RMB. ■New Accent 1.4L: The model is the 6th-generation Accent, production/sale of which began in February 2006. The standard selling price is 72,800-94,800 RMB. It uses Hyundai's latest 1.4L DOHC gasoline engine (that meets Euro III emission standards). It is reported that the auto manufacturer is currently planning to produce/sell a spec with 1.6L α-CVVT engine in China. (Photo) In addition, Beijing Hyundai Motor exhibited NF with 2.4L engine that meets Euro III emission standard (standard selling price is 182,800-223,800 RMB. The 2.0L spec model was not exhibited) and 2.7L Tucson GLS AT four-wheel-drive spec (241,800 RMB. The 2.0L spec model was not exhibited). ■Rongcheng Huatai Automobile exhibited Santa Fe, production of which began in October 2006 ■Santa Fe 2.0 VGT: Debut at the 2006 Guangzhou Motor Show (China). The auto manufacturer initiated KD production at its Shandong plant and released in Rongcheng city, Shandong province in October 2006. The model uses common-rail 2.0L CRDi diesel-powered engine with a maximum output of 92.61kW and Full-Time 4 WD System, H-MATIC AT. The maximum speed is 175km/h. The standard selling price is 181,800 RMB (182,800 RMB for luxury spec). (The MT spec was not exhibited) (Photo) ■Santa Fe 2.7 V6 luxury version: Debut at the 2006 Guangzhou Motor Show(China). Production/sale began in November 2006. The standard selling price is 179,800 RMB. The model uses 2.7L DOHC V6 gasoline engine with a maximum output of 131.6kW and Full-Time 4WD, H-MATIC AT. The maximum speed is 182km/h. In addition, Rongcheng Huatai Automobile exhibited a model that uses 2.4L MPI gasoline engine and MT (standard selling price is 149,800 RMB. It was also exhibited at the 2006 Guangzhou Motor Show (China)) and a model that uses common-rail 2.9L CRDi diesel-powered engine (279,800 RMB) of its existing model - Terracan (Photo) ■Kia exhibited New RIO, which it plans to manufacture in China starting in 2007 Kia is currently constructing its second passenger car plant in China with an annual production volume of 300,000 unit-level, planning to build up a production system of 450,000 in China in 2010. At this Auto Show, the auto manufacturer exhibited its products at a joint booth with Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motors, its joint venture company. ■New RIO: Debut in China. The model is a Chinese-spec model of RIO, production of which is scheduled to start at Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motors at the beginning of 2007. The model uses 1.4L DOHC engine with a maximum output of 96 horsepower/1.6L CVVT engine with a maximum output of 112 horsepower and 5-speed MT/4-speed AT. It is equipped with ABS/EBD/6 airbags. The standard selling price is reported to be 318,000 RMB. The model uses new 2.7L V6 Petrol engine with a maximum output of 189 horsepower and 4-speed AT. It is equipped with 6 airbags. The model uses 2.7L V6 engine with a maximum output of 169 horsepower which meets Euro III emission standards and 4-speed AT. The standard selling price is 215,000-275,000 RMB. (Photo) In addition, Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motors exhibited 2005 model of Accent 1.3L 3box, which it launched in January 2005 at a price of 65,800 RMB. ■Ssangyong Motor exhibited five models including Kyron/Actyon/Rexton II, which it has imported/sold since 2006 Korea-based Ssangyong Motor, a subsidiary of SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp.), exhibited five models - New Chairman luxury long spec model, Rodius luxury MPV, Rexton II/Kyron/Actyon SUVs. ■Kyron: The model is Ssangyong Motor's main SUV model for the market in Europe; import/sale also began in China in November 2006 (launched in Korea in June 2005). The standard selling price is 243,800-293,000 RMB. The model uses 2.0L XDi 200 XVT diesel-powered engine with Turbo Charger (maximum output is 141 horsepower) and T-Tronic 5-speed AT with manual mode. (Photo) ■Actyon 2.0 DE model: Import/sale began in April 2006. The model is an SUV, also exhibited at the 2006 Guangzhou Motor Show (China), which is likely to be manufactured in China. It uses 2.0L XDi 200 XVT diesel-powered engine and 4-speed AT. The standard selling price is 229,800-279,800 RMB. The subscription sale of a model with 5-speed MT and one with 2.3L G23D gasoline engine and 4-speed AT has started in the middle of November.
■2006 model of Rexton II: 2006 model SUV. Production in China was considered, but was shelved for the time being. Import/sale began in June 2006. The auto manufacturer exhibited the model that uses common rail 2.7L RX270XDi diesel-powered engine with a maximum output of 165 horsepower (standard selling price is 318,000-368,000 RMB) (Photo). (The standard selling price of the model with 3.2L RX320G gasoline engine is 388,000-458,000 RMB. It was not exhibited) In addition, Ssangyong Motor exhibited the 2006 model of luxury MPV Rodius (standard selling price is 438,000 RMB), import/sale of which began in June 2005, and the 2006 model of 3.2L New Chairman luxury long spec (648,000 RMB), import/sale of which began in China in March 2006 (Photo).
